Edit:whoops meant Librarian loadouts lol <-- Fixed it for you -- Canew
How do you load out your librarian? termi armor or basic? epistolary or regular? which powers do you choose? which do you think complement each other best?
For a one man assault force the Avenger (flamer one) and either the quickening or might of the ancients seems cool on a epistolary
Or do you use him purely as support? Maybe with the force bubble and the gate of infinity to provide a mobile and protected unit?

Most Notable Achievements:
Killed a Revenant Titan in one shot.
Killed 900 pts worth of Blood Angels in 2 turns while only loosing 4 pts.
I have three Libbies that i take as an Epistolary every time.
First is a stock libby - no special war gear, nothing special about him at all. He's meant for low-points games. He takes null zone and smite most of the time, to negate the enemies invun saves/etc.
Second is a stock libby with jump pack. Again, nothing especially great about him, however he supports my jump chappy and his attached motly 10-man assault squad. The plan is to move squad+chappy and libby up 12 inch, then assault into the enemy. The libby uses null zone again to help negate enemy invun saves, maximising the re-rolls to hit from the chappy. He also takes dome, to give that little extra protection when i attach him to the squad along with the chappy.
Third is a termie libby which joins a normal termie squad with ass-cannon. He abuses smite and might of the ancients when assaulting (which is REALLY rare!)
To best gauge what powers your libby should take, look at the types of battles you play and how you want him to help your army.
in the times of the old codex... (LOL, it's just about 3 weeks ago!)
i used a librarion mounted on a bike with this equipment:
Space marine bike
Might Of Heroes
Veil Of Time
Total 241 points
he was so awesome, he always won back his points. in one battle he slaughtered a Hive Tyrant, a Broodlord, 8 Genestealers and a Carnifes completely by himself!
*snif* i will miss him...
the new ones i fit mostly with Quickening and that power where he gets S6.
or with that Power where they can hop through the warp combined with that where they get a 5+ cover save in a unit of sternguard veterans.
(i do not have to new codex that long so i do not know al the names of the psychic powers, sorry for that)
i will buy me a new Libi model with termi armour and a storm schield (for that 3+ invurnable save)
and i always take the epistolary upgrade if i use a libi
Epistolary just doesn't seem worth it. It just costs too much. I plan to give my librarian terminator armor, a storm bolter and the powers null zone and smite.
I'm going to run him along with a unit of 5 regular terminators with a cyclone missile launcher. It seems like a well balanced force, and although the ability to use null zone and smite both in the same turn would be nice, it's not worth the extra cost.
Why doesn't it seem worth it? Using two powers in one turn is devastating. You can wipe out a whole lot more than 50 points of the enemy if you use some of these powers right. I'm definitely not saying you're wrong, just don't quite understand where you're coming from. If you want a CC monster take a Captain or a Chapter Master; Librarians are there so they can use powers. Part of maximizing their potential (to me, at least) is giving them the ability to cast as many powers as I can.Epistolary just doesn't seem worth it. It just costs too much.
I'm not impressed with the close combat related powers. No matter what, your opponent can still single him out and probably wipe him out in one turn, if they set their mind to it. He just isn't resilient enough, not even in terminator armor.
There are a few powers that would be good to use in combination with the shooting powers, but 50 points is a lot, considering it doesn't do anything else for the figure. For only 50 points more than that you could have a second librarian. That sounds like a better deal to me than loading up one.
yes only one psychic shooting, but not all psychic powers require you to shoot, hence using two is better than just one.
I quite fancied null zone when I got my look at the SM codex.
Gonna help alot if you have plasmas against hard hitting elites.
I might write like a ork but i fight like a poet.
Some one tell me they have ever seen a nightbringer die from a Nemesis Force Weapon.
Did anyone mention Vortex of Doom.
Sure its risky, but see the expression on a player's face when you DS via a TP homer in front of their massed tanks and terminators and VoD the entire thing. Priceless.
I also like quickening, cause you can instakill hardcore MC's first up. Works very well vs. daemons too, esp with null zone.
So, id say either:
Vortex + Quickening
are the best
