hello to all who read this .i recently purchased the new space marine codex and was just wondering which hq was good for 1000 point army .i already have a termie lined up to be my HQ but he has a power fist and i feel im wasting his high initive he also has a storm bolter and the iron halo .im open to suggestion and i dont dont mind if he,s too expensive .cheers
Just a Captain with a power weapon is pretty good, he already come with a bolt pistol. Other good and relatively cheap upgrades are artificer armor, storm shield, digital weapons, etc.
Black8 hit the mark there mate.
All basic HQ options are pretty cheap though.
Other cheap examples are to a Chaplain to a standard 10man tactical squad and you have 270points of re-rolling goodness!
Attach Librarian to a combat squad and use his force weapon to insta-kill enemy IC's
Take a Chaplain and claim it "Counts As" Chaplain Cassius. This would cost the about same as two extra scout models but gets you feel no pain - ideal to help keep those tacticals alive while still providing all that re-rolling goodness =)
Hope i didnt confuse you further there mate, but i wanted you to have some options =)
orbital bomardment is always a plus if you are playing against a horde army. just the thought of a huge str crazy AP 5 inch blast at my armys command makes me smile. stinks that he can't move that turn though.....
For 1000 points I've tried the following so far
- Librarian w/ Jump pack. Let me down with his one Psychic power a turn and his lackluster combat abilities and lack of Invulnerable save (without using a power)
- Chaplain. Led a combat squad into certain death and snuck off after a horrendous round of shooting left them near dead, redeemed himself by wounding a Chaos Lord twice before dying.
- Chapter Master (Counts as Captain fluff wise) with Jump pack, grenade launcher and lightning claws. - Hid behind a bunker for turn 1 and 2. In turn 2 dropped an Orbital blast on some Beserkers in a trench, killing 3. Then charged into combat and did some damage.
So far, my favourite has been the Master.
Arch Overfiend & Grand Despot
I currently play:
Doom Eagle Space Marines
Hive Fleet Omega Tyranids
Goff Ork Boyz(dead)
Tau of O'me
Inquisitorial Xeno Hunters
and my attempted foray into fantasy
'Dark Angel Green' Dark Elves in need of fluff
I've already tried the Chaplain with jumpack (which killed some enemys, but not alot...)
And I'n my last game I played an ordinary Captain (Power Weapon, Artificer Armour and digital weapons...)
He killed 1 warrior squads, 1 witch squad and a talos all by himself... ^^
I like him
