just wondering if anyone has used such a combination yet?
and if you'll think it'd work.
and what se ups you have/want to try out? (jump-pack? land raiders?) within a reasonable point limit (between 1000points and 2500points)
i wouldn't use it unless i was doing an adeptus custodes army(horray they now ignore armour saves with relic blades, no more nemisis force weapons!)
Not viable at all in less than 3000 points, and then you may as well be playing apocalypse where it wouldn't matter anyway.
Calgar + 3 units of honour guard is around 1000 points.
It'd be fun in a one off 'us against the world' kind of scenario - Calgars last stand against 1000 point nid swarm army, where you just use calgar and three units of honour guard, but not really in any attempt at balance.
I can't say I've seen it all but I live for the things that keep me hollow.
thanks for the posts guys!
and that's exactly what i mean! would it be possble to have a balanced MC + 3x HG army?
HG I - Jump-packs
HG II - Terminator Armour
HG III - "Tactical Squad"
then have two Tactical Squads to round off the force. that would leave you with a solid backbone of three tact squads. i would add transports as needed.
P.S. can they take Storm Shields or Combat Shields?

eeh...no. the only marine army that has worse 'eggs in basket' syndrome is black templars lrcmech, and even that has its strong points (which is why i play it)
a 'smurf vs world' scenario would be cool, though. calgar, cassius, tigerius, 3 squads of honor guard, and 3 dreadnoughts against 2500 points of nids...
And I can see it working out if its 3 min units, 1 with the standard all in razorbacks. That'll be 755 points total and if you spend the rest of the points (2K list) on tac's and anti-tank because if you manage those 3 man units well, by themselves they'll take out most units
Most Notable Achievements:
Killed a Revenant Titan in one shot.
Killed 900 pts worth of Blood Angels in 2 turns while only loosing 4 pts.
for 1500 you can get, marneous, 3 units of minimum honour guard, one land raider of each type, and 2 squads of 5 scouts.
If you could find some way of making the scouts stay alive, then this could be quite a fun, interesting list to play.
