    Okay so I am starting to consider building a strict GK army. I figured up 1500 points which give me about 28 guys and 2 dreads. This to me seems like a a very small amount of troops considering my Tau army for 1500 points will have over 50 guys. I was wondering what some folks are finding out about this higly exspensive force.

    Few but very good models. Each figure is very good at both shooting and CC, so are very versatile. I have found that pure GK armies start to really come together at 2000 points. Less than that it can be a struggle to field a good list versus your opponents. To save points you can make larger squads, (because the justicars are more expensive). It's 275 for a 10-man GK squad (including justicar), so 550 points for 2 troop squads. That still leaves 900 points for dreadnoughts (about 140 maxed each w/lascannons + ML) plus HQ. If you take fewer Terminators you could easily take a 3rd troop (or fast attack) 10-GK squad bringing you over 32 models right there (not counting HQ) and still have about 200 points for an HQ.

    Otherwise, if you're really concerned about numbers, either grab 10 or 20 stormtroopers (for 1 or 2 squads, I would take max size squads) and use them for your mandatory troop choices (allowing all the GK to be deep strikers) or take an Inquisitor Lord HQ, which will give you about 8 more fairly cheap models.

    Yeah I am trying to go with straight grey knights with some dreads worked in for filling out the army. I am looking forward to trying them out since all I have played in awhile is my Tau.

    any troop that can shoot 2x S4 at 24", with T4 and a 3+ or 2+Sv, has my vote for the oval office.

    Hey ShasleMudd,

    I play astrict GK army. I use an Inquisitor+BG w/ Chimera, A brother CPT w/ psy-cannon from the HQ w/ Retinue of 6 GK Termys, 2 squads of 5 GKs in power armour w/ incineraters, 1 squad of 5 GKs w/ a psy-cannon as a fast attk option, and a GK dread.

    I can also add 2 squads of 10 Inq storm troopers and vet sgts w/ Rhinos. Plus an ordo Malleus Inq w/ 5 worrior BG in a Rhino.

    Throw in psyker powers and wargear......Wallah! One formmiddable fighting force with an industrial can of whoop a**!

    It can give Chaos fits......and drive other nuts with all the special abbilities they bring to the table.

    Sounds good armyman. WHat have your games been like and how have you been able to use your units. Do you find the lack of transports for GK hard or do you make up for it with the stortroopers and their transports.

    To answer your first question: The games are good as long as there are victory conditions, if it is a straight "wipe each other out mission" it gets real difficult to pull off a victory. I have played 8 games with my force and have won 5. The fisrt two I got my A** kicked all over, but since I have learned how to play them, they can be a formidable force. The transports can be an issue, but I like deap stricking my GK squads when I take the storm troopers( this meets the two troop chioces). when I dont, I deep strike just one squad into my opponents backfield and create havoc. This tactic will draw the attention to the deep struck squad and allow you to move the others, on foot, into position to stike at your opponent.

    If you would like, I could send you a copy of the the force I use. I have a written force for 1000, 1500, 1850, and 2000 pts. Or I can just post it to this forum. What would you like? and wich point cost?

    Yeah Id like to see your 1500 since I am just building my force that is what I am shooting for.

    So you dont take any landraiders for transports and what about dreads? Do you use these at all.

    Currently with 1500 I am looking at one GK deep strike and my termie deep strike with brother captain hoping like you said to disrupt the lines while my other units come forward.

    No I don't use a land raider (though I want to get one just to build and paint "the deamonhunter way"). I do use a Dreadnaught....HEC! its the only tank buster I have in the whole army. I'll get the list posted here in the next two days. I'll shoot for tonight
