i bought this army from craigslist, and i am a new player.
what would be the best type of army to make with these units?
for a 750,1000,1500 point battle?
i dont know what the standard is ( newb player ), could some one help me out!
Standard battles are usually about 1500-2000 points where I live, also with your liutenants and sergeants what weapons do they have?
IG Best Gen 1st overall of 10 DE 4th overall of 6
Eldar 3rd Overall/Best General of 26--2nd Overall/Best General of 7--1st Overall/Best General of 11
i dont know how to tell what weapons some one has ( i know thats sad but its the truth, im a noob). also i dont know how to tell who is who , i could put group all of the people that look alive and post there picture on this site somewhere?
all i can say about the sentinals is that the roof canopy thing looks like a roll cage , it has a chainsaw looking sword thing ( noob ) , and a gun that looks like a flame thrower because of tanks that its connected too and a lighter type thing in front of the barrel.
Thatd be the catachan pattern sentinel then *nods knowingly*.
Basically sort them out as follows.
Guys with normal rifles in one lot, these are the lowly troops.
Next any special weapons, these are the guys with flame throwers and grenade launchers in plastic, put metal models aside for now if you have any.
The next lot are guys with a sword and pistol generally if they are plastic they are sarges and officers are metal. As far as wepaons go there is las pistols (look similar to the rifles but smaller) there are bolt pistols (chunky looking ones with a magazine) and maybe six shooter type pistols (these are fairly rare and on older models so you probs wont come across these)
If you want to take photos stick them on a free hosting site such as Image hosting, free photo sharing & video sharing at Photobucket nice and simple to use. take one of any officers or guys you are unsure about.
Now I assume you have the codex (if you dont go and buy or borrow one!) you shoudl be able to work out a lot from the pictures in there. also simply browse google images with names of weaposn you dont recognise formt he book eg, book says bolter you dont knwo what a bolter looks like look it up and check your troops.
Doing a sort will really help you also you can be sorting them into different unit setups while you are at it!
As far as list building is concerned you seem to have a good spread so a balanced list woudl be a good idea, a few tanks and some platoons with a few vets seems about right.
Hope that helps
here is a link to my photobucket page that has the pictures of some of these figures.
i found out that a group of them is guants ghosts . i dont know what that means or anything but i found Guant in the codex .
http://photobucket.com/Warmaster106_IG theres an underscore between the 6
and the I. could anyone tell me anything about these guys?
also i will be putting more on that album soon.
Thanks for your Time!
You have a royal mess there. I see Steel Legion, Catachan, Colonel Schaeffer's Last Chancers, a ratling, and Gaunts Ghosts.
The first two are of a Catachan heavy bolter. The next seven are of a Catachan jungle fighter captain with a power fist. The next two are of a member of the Last Chancers. Next you have two Steel Legion guardsmen. Then another Last Chancer and a Ratling. Next is yet another Last chancer. The next two are of Colonel Schaeffer himself and his aid whos name slipped my mind. After that is the Gaunts Ghosts. Then the last one is a Steel Legion officer with a power sword and a bolt pistol.
Post up pictures of the rest of what you have. Someone here will be able to identify them, Im sure.
Unless your talking about the gun Sly Marbo has.

necromunda models generally had them, stub pistols if i remember rightly, sometimes necromunda figures end up in guard job lots hence why i mentioned it!
The best six shooter ive seen is on the pistol accesory sprue for necromunda ive used it on my Istrian officer (pics floating around, its on his belt).
Guant is a character fromt he Dan Abnett Novels about the Tanith first, there are plenty of them and they are a dmaned good read. There are some rules form a white dwarf (or they may be online somewhere) for the other main characters in the regiment.
One of the other units i see you have is a squad of plastic catachans that are unpainted.
The metal models you have may need to be stripped and repainted otherwise the details will fill in. From what I can see you have a big mix, try to sort them into uniform types: ie.
steel legian models (coats helmets and goggles look a bit german)
catachan models (these are the ones wearing vests that look vietnam ish)
cadians (if you have any they will look like the guys on the front of the codex and throughout it)
the ratlings, these are the short ones with sniper rifles, not a popular model set I might add.
Youve got some sentinels as well though the one pointing upwards (armed with a multilaser) looks a little odd and may need repositioning.
Most of the models you have look in good condition, youve got some nice pieces as well, particularly the steel legion stuff. The metal heavy bolters are nice I prefered soem of the old style heavy weapons TBh.
Anyway, is it possible to get a group shot of the whole army?
Hope that helps
