    How to beat Eldar??

    Honestly, these guys are pricks.

They destroy half your army on turn 1 with their dark reapers and own you with banshees and those !&#^$*ing grav tanks and all.

    How do I beat them?!>!

    Ok to start with...

Banshees are weak as water to shooting so get some mobile firepower as for reapers... they love landraiders with Assualt Terminators in them. Ur marines so ur mobile not as fast as them but if ur a "lets all sit and shoot" army they will outmanouvre (and spell ) you at will, maybe heroic intervention vs the reapers and then move into his guardians.

also most eldar are specialised, so u get that 10 man banshee squad with a heavy flamer armed landspeeder and its crispy elf city,

With grav tanks they are a pain, what kinds are u agains? Falcons? Serpents? Prisms?

and what can u use to counter them? I like to use speeders or bikers with melta weapons. Or you can use the armoured rush tactics. use rhinos and landraiders as cover for ur assualt troops, if u let him fight on his terms he will bum u all day long, but his troops lack the flexability of urs. so use that. i used to be eldar, if he is all dark reapers and banshees then use armour if hes all about the brightlance then use light armoured tanks to use as covers for ur advance. also terrain is a factor is it dense or open?

Eldar are really mobile, and have a lot of special Units. The best way to beat an army like Eldar, is to some really tough units. If you took Thunderhammer terminators, you have 2+/3+ armour, and you can kill any unit they have(although skimmers a little tougher) and last against any high Ap they have (banshees/starcannons).

Its also a good idea to take a decent amount of lascannons, cause Eldar tanks and wraithlords can be quite a problem if you are shot on the heavy weapons.

An awesome way to teach an eldar player with dark reapers a lesson is to bring in the Inquisition Get a cheap HQ Inquisitor and a Callidus assassin. The Inquisitor is there purely as he has to be for the assassin but can give you a mini dev squad or something else depending on set up.

BUT the callidus is the dark reapers worse nightmare, she can make them move 6"s before the game starts (so move them or something to block their line of sight) and then when she pops up (usually 2 or 3rd round) right beside them, she will destroy them and then continue to cause havok on their farseer and gaurdians who are also likely to be near the backline...

Just another out of the box idea from your friends at the Inquisition.

yep. heroic intervention vanguard, callidus, or drop pod rapid fire are all ways to 'make the reaper exarch a deal he can't refuse'.

vs pointy ears, you want dakka, dakka, dakka. it doesn't matter if holofields stop 9 out of 10 shots if you're throwing 10 shots at it! predator destructors are great at this, as are baal predators. a few land speeders with heavy flamer doesn't go wrong either, plus you can run down falcons with the multimeltas on them and have well done eldarburgers for the celebratory dinner.

finally, 4x hb devastators does a real number on them. it's unfortunate we can't field autocannons on our devastators...

For the Dark Reapers, really anything that can get up and in CC with them fast will ruin any eldar players day (heroic intervention could do a good job). Reapers aren't great in CC, but even if you dont' kill them tying them up for a few rounds and thinning them down is all you need.

Despite being fast, Grav tanks are fairly vulnerable. With 12/12/10 armor pretty much any heavy weapons you can field should be able to bring them down, and a powerfist will shred in CC. Even with holofields on falcons/prisms and energyfields on serpents, just focus enough las/melta/krak shots and you should have no problem. Also, those things are expensive!

As for Banshees, on foot they're bolter fodder. If they're in a serpent he'll have to move them up and let them sit for a round before he can disembark and then move/fleet/assault, which just gives you a nice big target.

don't bother with lascannons, use missile launchers to save points, all you need them for is shooting the transports and wraithlords down and the ML is more efficent at both and then can turn on the troops.

Bring a librarian or a grey knight brother captain with a psychic hood to make him earn his powers.

Flamers or thunderfire cannons are a must for those pesky rangers in cover sitting on his objective. get rid of that awesome cover save and they go fast.
    Most Notable Achievements:
Killed a Revenant Titan in one shot.
Killed 900 pts worth of Blood Angels in 2 turns while only loosing 4 pts.

Use Ravenguard. Shrike's ability to make your whole army fleet gives you a level playing field over the space pixies. He can join assault marines, infiltrate with them and get a first turn charge.

Librarian isn't necessarily the best option with the changes to psychic hood, and if you're gonna play the dick move and grab a DH ally just to get the old hood and mess with his psychic powers, I'm sure he'll fit in Runes of Warding so you PotW all your psychic tests.

I am an eldar player so I know this from experance, they are built to kill marines. Star cannons are your worst enemy and bright lances can drop any tank you have. Luckly with the new rules they are much easyier to take out. Focus on the Transports, eldar are very weak once their transports are down. Your normal bolters can chew though most of the troops. If they do not have transports then hit their tanks with your heavy weapons. Foot sloggers can easily be taken down by any of our weapons. Whirlwinds are death to them.

Now unlike normal marine battles cover will be your ally. Usally our 3+ save protects our troops but star cannons will remove their armor like a hungry kid opening a candy bar wrapper. The only save you will get from star cannons will be cover saves. All eldar players bring a lot of star cannons. They are death to any unit in the game and make terminators look like imperal guard.

How to take out each unit.

Farseer =/- command: Bolters, as many as you can fire. Farseers have this great 4+ inv save, but no normal armor save. They can only stop 50% of shots and due to low toughness bolters can tear this unit apart. I would be careful about getting into close combat because though you think you have a 3+ armor save most of their weapons are powered and they have an initive that is though the roof. Shooting is the way to take these guys down.

Guardians: Close combat or shooting. With a 5+ normal save they drop pretty easily. The problem is they are cheap troops and if they get close they can shoot a ton of str 4 shots due to their weapons being assault. Hit them with AOE attacks and you will drop them quickly. Also pretty much any close combat squad will rip though them if you roll well on your armor saves.

Scouts: These are nasty, they have a great cover save, long range, and their weapons are armor killers. They are expensive and an easy kill point. If you can get into close combat with one of these they are dead, no if and's or buts.

Scorpions: Eldar with str, they are equal to marines execpt get more attacks, higher initive, and their exarchs are mean. Hit these guys first. Do not let them get anywhere near you because if they get into close combat with a normal tac squad they have inivitive, lower toughness, but more attacks.

Banshees: The armored players nightmare, low armor saves but 3 attacks each on the charge with power weapons! Shoot first shoot again and never ask questions because they will use a psychic scream that makes them always go first on the charge and then turn you into power armor paste. They do only have a 4+ save so your bolters can mow them down.

Dark Reapers: Get into close combat or hit them with powerful weapons, their weapons are trouble! 2 shot missle launchers with a good BS.

Wave Serpents: The bane of everyone. Their fields make it so nothing str 8 or above hits at 8 so you always need a 4+ to glance 5+ to pen. Watch out for their star cannons, marine killers.

Every other eldar tank: Hit it as quickly as you can. They are all just as nasty as the Serpents.

Well this is a breif overview. Send me a PM for spefic questions as I have been playing eldar for years and I know how to beat them/win with them.
