    Few Silly Questions

I've got a whole load of Tau and a box of grey knights and some grey knight termies and I'm thinking about going for a puritanical daemon hunters force.

Just wondering what the best way to go about assembling it is, I'd like to get a workable 500 point force going first of all and then go up to 1000 points around Christmas when a lovely land raider with FW doors should be arriving for me.

    Main questions are:
TH and SS for one or two of my Termies, is there any easy way of keeping the DH iconography on the shoulder pads?

Storm troopers, what squad sizes do you recomend and which transport would you recomend

and a bit of an odd one, I've got the limited edition Gideon Lorr mini and I'd love to use him as its an awesomely detailed piece and should be good fun to paint. Is he legal to run in a DH army as a WH ally or should I field him as an inquisitor with plasma gun?

If I'm being a dunce and I've missed easily searchable threads I apologise.

Depends what you want to use them for. For a tank-hunting squad, a smallish (5-6 member) squad with two melta guns in a Rhino is a pretty good solution. After all, extra hellguns aren't going to help you against armor, and you're going to be rushing full speed ahead, so paying for the guns on a Chimera seems like a waste. For a fire-base squad, you're better off with a larger count ( 8-10 ) with two plasma guns, and if you want a transport, the Chimera is a good choice. These guys will be exposed to more fire, and will be firing on infantry primarily, so the extra bodies will come in handy. Also, since they'll be setting up and shooting, the Chimra can provide some extra fire support.

Don't really know about the other questions, as I haven't heard of that Inquisitor (he's from a Forgeworld book, I'd guess?).

    Good luck!

they'll be tank popping melta wielding madmen

he was the 30th anniversary special edition character, rules are in an old WD sitting in my garage somewhere, from what I remember he's every psyker's worst nightmare though TBH I'd field him if he was 150 points and his stat line was all 0's just because he looks so awesome CoolMiniOrNot - Witch Hunter Inquisitor Gideon Lorr by Perfectus Art Studio

5-6 is a good number, but if they have good support i.e. LRC nearby then a larger 8-10man squad is great for robbing peoples objectives aswell as it's primary role.
It depends if he's a special character in the witchhunters codex? If not then I think you can, but theres limits.

Two grey knight squads and a brother captain is fairly strong at 500pts.
As for the Land Raider, me too! Assembling it is going to be intresting, hopefully I can magnetise it and have the options to view the inside compartment, dozer blade etc..

First off, there are no silly questions, just silly people.

I have yet to convert one of my GKTs to carry a thunder hammer and storm shield, but when I do I imagine I'll just do a hand swap of some kind, precisely so I can keep using the original shoulder pads. I suspect it will be easier on the left hand than the right, but overall it'll be a tough project. Still, it'll be worth it.

To build up to 500, use small squads of grey knights, if you have them, along with your =I= and that should get you close. ISTs will work, too, but I hear player after player lamenting how they are useless. I can't comment either way, just throwing that out there. After that, make sure you have at least two full squads of grey knights by the time you reach 1,000. A full squad of GKTs wouldn't hurt either.

But yes, if you want them, the default advice is to put any tank-hunting IST squads in a Rhino, and anti-infantry ISTs go in a Chimera. The bigger the squads, the better. You'll need the bodies.

As to the Gideon Lorr model, I think it looks fantastic. I don't know about his special rules, but if it's just the model you like so much, who says it has to be Lorr? Just call him something else and field him as a standard =I= out of the codex. To tell you the truth, I didn't even know that model HAD a name, let alone special RULES!
Mickey: "You're just making this up as you go along!"
The Doctor: "Yuuuup. But I do it brilliantly!"

That is indeed an epically-cool model! As far as fielding him in a Daemonhunters army, it'll depend who you're facing. My understanding is that WD articles don't constitute "canon" 40k, and so require opponent's permission to use. Assuming you have that, it'll depend on his special rules -- is he limited only to WH armies of a certain size? Does he count as an HQ or Elite choice? Assuming he's an HQ or Elite choice and isn't restricted explicitly to WH armies, then you could use him as an allied HQ or Elite choice in a DH army, provided your opponent has no problems with you using him in the first place =).

If you want to use the plastic TH+SS Terminators, converting them to "blend in" amongst the metal Grey Knights is easier than you might think!

thanks for all the helpful advice, I think I'll pick up another box of Grey Knights so I can batch paint them at the same time as my termies. Some Storm Troopers, special weapons and a rhino will be next.
