Seeing i'm still new i was wondering what the best battle you guys have won using DH.
Ah, sounds maybe rather wierd, but that was a 500 points match VS space marines. He had an Attack Bike, and I used my Callidus Assasin's word in your ear to put it into difficult terrain. He got first turn, tried to drive his Attack bike out of the difficelt terrain, rolled a 1 on the Dangerous Terrain test, and it got killed. I won that match with losing only 1 grey knight.
This was a 4th edition match.
Another fun match, also a 500 point match, was against Tau. Tau player got totally entrenched, with a few gun drones and 5 vespid ready to charge. So I just hung out back, looking around the corner, and shot 2 gun drones, and tried to lure the vespid with my Inquisitor. The Vesipd took the bait, and went straight for it, needing a fleet to be able to charge (line of sight was blocked by a wall, and I fake "I'm glad that wall in the in way, preventing him to be shot" and hoping he would try to 'punish me and try to fly over the wall and perform a charge). The vespid charged, and mercylessly slaughtered my inquisitor.
And then on my turn, my 2 grey knight squads came from around the corner, and shot the Vespid and Drones to pieces. So at that point, I only lose like 30 points, and he lost half his army. He says "Tssk, no problem. You will never survive killing my fire warriors, because they have a very good position." I replied "You're totally right, and you know what, I think I'm just going to sit here, wait for the match to be over, and win because of victory points."
You should have seen the look on his face, totally forgot about the victory points, so he move his fire warriors, but with only 2 turn to spare, I just easily walked around the battlefield, and won the game.
Lesson of the match: "Keep your eye on the prize!"
Tyranids Win / Draw /Lost
Daemon Hunters Win / Draw / Lost
Fortunately they couldn't shift the last seraphim by the end of the game.
As for fun games - the 1500pt game against chaos (that I need to post up some time) saw Abaddon and a 7 strong retinue mis-teleport on the 2nd turn, wiping them out.
The same game saw Lucius and a squad of berzerkers stranded and impotent up the wrong end of the table (seraphim blew up his rhino).
To add insult to injury the berzerkers didn't manage to finish the seraphim with a counter charge - the veteran escaped, jumped across the table, and nailed their defiler...
(it was a DH list, not WH - the rest of the game was all about the GKT sweeping through the chaos objective with fire support from PAGK and a crusader)
i managed a draw with a radical deamonhunter army against an ork horde,a couple of deamonhosts laid waste to an huge mob of orks and that crappy ork wierdboy special character.
Also in the same game a penitentent engine killed his warboss in one go,but that was not my best game,in a previous game his warboss on bike mowed right into a small squad of IST but they killed him before he could attack(he had a power claw),considering the size of that beast it was hilarious.
My finest victory was also made difficult by my lack of braincells on the maths side of it
1000 pts of Grey Knights vs 1500 Black Templars
by turn 5 i only had the grand master left but he has to come towards me so he single handedly won the fight (technically it was a draw but the whole group came over and was cheering him on and they gave me the morale victory)
Ive also absolutely hammered an eldar player 1500 - 1500 but he wasnt the brightest when he deployed his banshees in the open vs psycannons. with them dead he paniced and the day was mine
im looking to get back into the old DH as they have a special place in my heart
The best battle using Daemonhunters and I won was a 2000pt game against Orks.
It was with an opponent which I kept winning, but I found this one the best.
I remember on the first turn my dreadnought got smashed by loota fire on turn 1.
I can remember my Stormtroopers holding against a charge from boys in a trukk, then my death cult assassins (3) jumping from the ruin behind to slaughter them.
The death Cult assassins (3) then went on to kill tankbusters (which had just assault my LRC and failed!!!! because it moved 12" muhaha), cutting them down (and then passing their invulnerables!)
The same Death cult assassins went onto destroy a Ork squad which surrounded the GM (he died for the emperor with his termies after he passed quite a few Klaw attacks)
Callidus came down near last turn and burned 9 out of 12 boys lamo, then she ran into the powerklaw after killing all but the klaw.
IMO she used be ace, aslong I found an isolated squad she could DS, flame, assault (clear attacks back zone) then opponents assault turn, jump back and repeat.
Grey Knight Terminators took on about 2 squads full of 30boys, holocaust was extreemly funny.
My grey knights did well, they jumped from behind the building to the front, stormboltered and killed 12orks with none left to assault.
Can't remember much else other than seeing extreemly large amounts of orks lying down on the opponents edge.
This match I learned my death cult assassins are extreemly good support units, the Terminators are great tar pits and killing machines, Land Raider Crusader always move 12".
It's been a while since I gave this ork player a match, I think next time I may possibly make it a battle report.
I might write like a ork but i fight like a poet.
Some one tell me they have ever seen a nightbringer die from a Nemesis Force Weapon.
well there was this one apocalypse game..... Man that guy never talked to me again
My best game I played was 1500 points vs a semi nidzilla list.
He had 6 warriors, 1 tyrant 1 brood lord, 2 carnifexes, some rippers and some genestealers, and i think 3 flying warriors.
Needless to say, storm bolter fire combined with psycannons and a GM retinue ripping through fexes does alot.
I lost 1 terminator and 1 PAGK. He conceeded by the 4th turn as he had his broodlord, and 6 genestealers left.
1000 points, versus Marines.
He was a kid, and new to the game - so I had built a fairly average list for a bit of an intro game. a few blocks of GK's, a Brother Captain, an Inquisitor and a Vindicare. Plus a Lance Strike.
The first turn brought a lot of bolter hits, and a few casualties as they got through the armour. Then the Vindicare popped a Sergeant and he totally freaked out. Started going on about how he didn't want his army to get shot by the Assassin! So, instead of concentrating his firepower to knock him out... He hides the whole army behind the forest.
...right. Now obviously, we can't leave it at this, right? So between his father, the GW employees and myself, we convince him to make a game of it at around turn 4. So he moves the (by now, very tightly packed) army out from behind the forest...
And the Lance Strike promptly spears his Dreadnought, annihilating it. The blast also clips his Rhino strongly enough to penetrate it, annihilating it as well. The initial blast claims most of the nearest Tactical squad, a healthy chunk of his Scouts, and a bike or two. His command squad gets vaporized with the Rhino. Then the secondary blasts from the vehicles finish off the Tacticals and Scouts, and mauls the bikes and another Tactical squad.
For those of you keeping score at home, that's something like 60 - 75% casualties from the one Orbital Strike. Leaving the remaining troops in the open, staring down the barrels of 900+ points of undamaged Grey Knight Storm Bolters.
To this day, it's the easiest win, most brutal victory, and most awesome Orbital Strike I've ever had. I was terrified that I had traumatized the poor kid straight out of the hobby, but he's a resilient one and still going strong today!
a 2 turn stunning victory against a khorne?nurgle deamon army with nothing but radicals out of the book.
an elites inquisitor loaded with heavy weapons and psycannons, along with a mystic and 2 sages.
gotta love it when deamons deep strike and you get a free shot at them woth plasma cannons and other goodness, gotta try adding another mystic and a chimera with 2 heavy bolters and psycannon bolts, thats gotta hurt anything thats not a plaguebearer.
