First off, i have made it my lifelong project to have the complete salamanders chapter in models. the new codex greatly helps with this by going through the ultramarines organization of the entire chapter, I would assume that the salamanders are the same, but under their description it says that each company has only 7 squads, one from each settlement on nocturne. I also have a few names of important salamanders, like the chapter master tu'shan, of course the forgefather he'stan, and the chief librarian vel'cona.
Now for the question, does anyone know where i could get more information similar to this? like, how many dreadnoughts each company has, names of captains, number of techpriests and librarians, and anything else relating to the salamanders chapter. I know i'll probably have to estimate quite a bit, but i want to do as little of that as possible.
This link (The Bolter and Chainsword - Librarium - Salamanders: A Comprehensive History : A 40k Space Marine Resource) might help you and as far as I know the Salamanders have 7 companies with each one being slightly larger than a standard codex company and has about 12 squads/120 marines.

Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
Salamanders differ from most if not all other chapters in the fact that each company possesses 120 men as opposed to the standard 100 that the Codex Astartes promotes. Additionally, instead of having 10 companies, the Salamanders have only 6 companies of marines in addition to a small company of about 60 scouts. The Chapter Organization of the Salamanders is as follows:
The Fire Drakes - First Company
Squads: 12 Veteran Squad
Support: Dreadnoughts, Rhinos, Land Raiders, Terminator Squads
Company Colors: Chapter badge white on a black background, Codex company markings.
Battle Companies - second through fourth companies
Squads: 7 Tactical Squads, 3 Devastator Squads, 2 Assault Squads
Support: Dreadnoughts, Rhinos, Bike Squadrons, Land Speeder Squadrons
Second - Captain: Unknown.
Chapter badge: white on a black background, Codex company markings.
Third - Captain: Unknown.
Chapter badge: fiery yellow on a black background, Codex company markings.
Fourth - Captain: Unknown.
Chapter badge: green on a black background, Codex company markings.
Reserve Company 1 (5th company)
Squads: 8 Tactical Squads, 4 Devastator Squads
Support: Dreadnoughts, Rhinos
Company Colors: Chapter badge black on a fiery yellow background, Codex company markings.
Reserve Company 2 (6th company)
Squads: 4 Tactical Squads, 8 Devastator Squads
Support: Dreadnoughts, Rhinos
Company Colors: Chapter badge green on a fiery yellow background, Codex company markings.
Captain: Unknown Squads: 6 Scout Squads
Support: Scout Bike Squadrons
Company Colors: Chapter badge black on a white background, Codex company markings.

thanks for the replies guys, ill definately check out those sources.
After throughly reading those links I have a few more questions.
1. The Firedrakes.
first of all, are the firedrakes the entire 1st company? or are they just the personal guard of the captain. Also, since the chapter master tu'shan, is really just the captain of the first company, would he have honour guard? And what i would like to know most, would the firedrakes be an honour guard squad, a command squad, or just veteran squads?
2. on Salamanders - Lexicanum when it says that the first company has terminator squads for support. does it mean extra marines in terminator armor, or just that some veteran squads have sets of terminator armor that they could use?
3. I don't think there is a source for this, but I want to know your opinion. since vulkan he'stan isn't a captain anymore, does he command troops while searching for the artifacts, or does he just call upon the chapter when he needs troops?
Looking up the first 2/ trying to come up with a good answer.
As to number 3 Vulkan He'Stan gave up his command position on becoming the new 'Vulkan' so no he has no troops directly under his command but he can requisition any and all chapter resources to help clear a problem in the way of his search.

2.I'm not sure what they mean by Terminator squads as support, I would say they are just putting it there to show the use of Terminator armour.
3. As in the space marine codex, Vulkan He'stan has the power to call apon any units from any company to help his search. As what is more important than the securing of their primachs artifacts and possible returning of their primach?
For example, my army is a Vulkan force with all squad markings coming from different companies, scouts from the scouts, terminators from the firedrakes etc.
