Looking for a vanilla/codex chapter to build and stumbled across the relictors. I like their colours and the fluff I could find, but had a few questions. They are listed in the new codex, so are they good to go with the new rules? And would the relictor specific rules from white dwarf still be viable?(and are those rules available in pdf?) Any help would be appreciated.
As far as I know the new dex overrides the Relictor rules in WD because that was based on a previous codex. I wouldn't have a clue where they could be found, but a google miiiiight work, or you could try tracking down the old White Dwarves (I think.. someone mentioned US WD 287 or something along those lines, but don't take my word for it =_=).
Though in reality if you usually play casual games that don't involve people who are sticklers for rules, there's nothing stopping you from adapting or coming up with some of your own house rules for them.

Train of thought will be terminating at.. edible murder weapons!
Index astartes III & IV should have the Relictors fluff and special rules you are looking for. They were originally in a white dwarf as Cat says, although I myself don't remember which one it was. As far as official rules go, they are obsolete and no longer work, but they could still be usable with the new marine codex as long as you have your opponent's consent.
Relictors make a cool combo with a radical Inquisitor army, I had always wanted to try that idea out but never got around to it.

Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to try to track down those articles, at least for the fluff. As Ebon Hand says, a Relictor/Inquisitor combo would be killer, hopefully my buddies would be cool with consenting to some special rules. Cheers!
I don't know how you got on but I found it posted here Relictors.net
It has the rules, special items and game scenario... It used to be that you could play these at tourns but only on vanilla lists (no traits) but now there is no such thing... so not sure how viable or if its all good.
Also no allys bar Radical =][='s, D/hosts and =][= Stormtroopers..

Wasnt the Relictors list in WD (and therefore the Index Astartes) the list that gave the options of using Daemon weapons from the previous Chaos Codex? If thats the case then I dont think they could be used as that codex is out of date. (using the Lost and the Damned army list no longer being valid as my argument here)
That being said I think Relictors could be represented easily enough in the new Marine Codex. Instead of a daemon weapon give your HQ a Relic Blade and call it something differant.

I would be OK with my opponent using whatever new equivalent to the old daemon weapon there is in the new CSM book I suppose. More fluff = more fun at the gaming table!
As far as I can tell, the Relictors use the new 5th Edition SM Codex for their rules.
Yeah, I was thinking the Relic Blade would definitely represent a Relictor weapon well. Probably the best I'll get with the new codex, and the guys I play with will want everything up to newest rules. On another note, how is the HH audiobook?
