Okay, so in 2 weeks time I'm going to be in an 1850 point battle against a 'nid player. Siad player prefers to have a lot of Hive Tyrants and Carnefexes (2-3 of each), so I am wondering what will be an effective loadout for the match. I'm thinking of being more lascannon and melta-heavy to deal with the 2+ armor saves and high toughness, but that would could leave me a bit short for anti-horde to deal with the gaunts and stealers.
Models I currently have:
-Predator Annihilator w/Lascannon Sponsons and PM Stormbolter
-Predator Destructor w/HB Sponsons and PM Stormbolter
-Vindicator w/Siege Shield and Dozer Blade
-AoBR Dreadnought (Multimelta and DCCW w/Stormbolter)
-Dreadnought with options for TW-Lascannon, Ass. Cannon, DCCW w/Stormbolter, and ML. (I left the arms inter-changable)
-5-man AoBR Terminator Squad
-10 Man Sternguard squad w/a P.Fist and 2 Combi-Plasmas
-4 10-man Tactical Squads, 2 w/ML and Flamers, 1 w/a plasma gun, and 1 w/a meltagun
-5-man Scout sniper squad
-5-man Assault Squad w/a powerfist.
-Land Raider Redeemer w/optional Multimelta and PM Stormbolter.
What would be some effective loadouts for the units, like how much good would equipping a dread w/a TW Lascannon and ML do? Some advice on how to handle this would be nice as well.
Thanks in advance!
Nids are a tough army. I find the best thing to do is load up on long range high str low AP weaponry for the big bugs and flamers for the little bugs.
For instance put lascannons in your tac squads for heavy weapons and flamers for your assault weapons.
The stern guard should be a good option for dealing with the big bugs. I have never used them but hellfire rounds sound good with the wounding on 2's against the high toughness big bugs. If you make them roll enough dice they are bound to fail.
Terminators are also good but against nids you may want thunder hammer/ storm shield for the 3+ invulerable against monstrous creatures. On the other hand storm bolters rock!
The thunderfire cannon should be great.
I wouldn't give the dreadnaught a missle launcher as ap 3 won't penetrate their armor and you only get 1 shot. Keep the CCW to beat down remaining wounds on carinfexes.
I don't think I would take the land raider reedemer as it seems too expensive to get torn open by carinfex or tyrant.
Snipers also seem like a poor choice since the hit on 4's now.
Assualt squad with powerfits looks good as it can beat down remaing wounds on big bugs.
Try and give your units speific functions and take down those tragets they are best equipped to deal with. Have your heavy weaponry and AP weapon guys focus on hunting big bugs from afar with powerfist units moving in to mop up. Let the flamer equiped tacs sqauds break off and and focus on litte bigs with the help of your thunderfire cannon and preadtor destructor. You get the picture? Don't forget objectives if the mission has them.
Just my two cents. Do with it what you will.

The only way Tyranids have to deal with high armor is close combat. Nothing in their weapons arsenal can penetratre AV14. A LRC keeping proper distance would be a great pain to the Tyranid player.
I'd also bring a Vindicator and a Predator with a big load of heavy bolters. Regular bikes and assault bikes are also amazing against Tyranids.
I'll try and pick up an attack bike if I can get the cash.
I'm low on cash now so getting a Crusader is pretty much out of the question, and I really don't feel like tearing apart my redeemer.
maybe buy another sternguard squad for there multipurpose weapons brillian against both high and low toughness bugs
If Slaanesh is the god of the Perverse, why does Nurgle have all the filth?
Being a former Nid player, I have to say the kind of SM I fear most are lists with lots of missle launchers. Krak against MCs, Frag against everything else. With one in each tactical squad, you can cause alot of hurt.
Crusaders can really cause some damage too. Nids have a very hard time with high armor vehicles now, and those hurricane bolters are great for taking out large groups of gaunts/stealers.
A drop pod with a dreadnought inside can really mix things up, especialy if you replace its storm bolter with a heavy flamer.
Basicaly, you want weapons that either force a lot of saves via high rate of fire, or have several firing modes so that they are useful against large broods or MCs. AV14 vehicles can REALLY annoy nids, and 13 can mix things up a bit too.
Edit: Also, don't overlook scouts. They might not be the greatest, but they are very cheap and have several ways to deal with nids. A group of them outflanking with shotguns can cause some trouble, but my favorite against Nids would be a group of 5, 4 with snipers and one with a heavy bolter. The snipers, though not the greatest things now, can still be very effective because they are useful against basicaly any Nid unit. The heavy bolter is great against big broods, but don't forget that scouts with heavy bolters can also fire hellfire shells, which cn really mess up MCs and other large nid units like Warriors and Raveners.
Tip: do not combat squad your tactical squads.

I think I can understand where the "no-combat-squadding" is coming from, and I don't C.S. my Plasma Gun Squad, but I think it'll be unavoidable for at least one squad since I have 2 missile launchers. Even if I put 1 in my plasma gun squad, the other's going to go with either a flamer or meltagun.
