Hello everyone! Seeing as how I just joined the forums, I should probably introduce myself...
Hello, I'm Nerdynick
... Well that's over. I just started a space marines army (one squad of termies, I know this is a bad place to start, but my LGS was out of tactical squads and I didn't want to buy the starter kit because waaaaaaaaaaay back when I bought the eldar kit and I was just getting into 40k I found it much too daunting (and monotonous) a task to assembly-line the models) and I need help naming my anticipated commander (which I will probably get for christmas). If it helps at all, I will probably convert an Emporer's Champion from the Black Templars to use as my Dark Angels commander (mostly because of the awesome sword). As for the names themselves, I would prefer a formal name and title like Lord Inquisitor Phelbas Alessandro Rorken, Inquisition High Council Officio, Scarus Sector, Scarus Major. I have also come up with a small list of suitable names (in my opinion), that are okay but don't quite stick in your head like that one perfect name.
List of names:
Pontius (sounds too much like a Black Templar or Chaplain in my opinion)
Praetus (too much like a Librarian)
Thanks for suggestions
Watch some Sci-fi. I recently watched all five seasons of andromeda back to back and its corrupted me.
Look at books on mythology and the like, from english to norse to greek to persian
Um, howabout this-
Lord Commander Titus Praetor Severus, the Daemonfoe, Defender of the sacred truth, Keeper of the Angel Sword, Captain of the the 3rd company of His Holy Emperor's Angels of Darkness.
A bit long, but I think it sounds pretty cool!
could do but its superfluous, you will only refer to him on the battle field by one name any how....kind of sounds like he's trying to hard. Short strong and cool, thats what a name should be like.
Play with it
Right, well I have little to add other than that I like Titus Daemonfoe (extended version above) and that I appreciate all the suggestions.
Dark Angel names?
Go to google, tye in angel names, pick one. Job done.
Either that or Captain John
Arch Overfiend & Grand Despot
I currently play:
Doom Eagle Space Marines
Hive Fleet Omega Tyranids
Goff Ork Boyz(dead)
Tau of O'me
Inquisitorial Xeno Hunters
and my attempted foray into fantasy
'Dark Angel Green' Dark Elves in need of fluff
To keep in with the Dark Angels background would it be Master something or other. Also since DA are a medieval themed chapter, how about a historical rank, such as Margrave/Marquess (ie a medievil duke with responibility for the 'Marches', or boarders), Constable/Castellan (The govenor of a castle) or Marshal (perhaps a little Black Templar'y)
Master Tritos DaemonFoe,, Constable of the Rock, Captain of the 3rd (this would represent the company Master of the 3rd company with responsibility for the Rock, the Dark angels fortress monastery)
Margrave Tritos DaemonFoe, Master of the 3rd Company, Lord of the Marches (this would represent the company Master of the 3rd company with responsibility for guarding the borders of Imperial territory)
Alternatively since the DArk Angels are heavily influenced by (at least the popular image of) the Knights Templar (originally a human knightly order, have a hidden secret, lead by Grand Masters etc) you could google them and steal some of their names/ranks.
Just a suggestion anyhow

nearly every dark angel character is named after a christian or jewish angel or demon.
belial is a demon of hostility and guilt
sammael is the jewish angel of death
ezekiel was a prophet in the christian bible
azrael was the christian angel of death, etc.
just google angel or demon names and pick one that fits your commander.
How Did This Get Here I Am Not Good With Computer
lol, daemons, angels and bizarrely nineteenth century poets
Raziel is a good angel name, but a little too much like Azreal for my tastes
Lucifer is also good, but I think I've heard it somewhere else in 40K
Bernael is the fallen angel of darkness, which seems appropriate
Yeah... out of these I like Lucifer best, but I don't want to name him after anyone else in the imperium. I did quick search on Lexicanum turned up nothing, so I assume this name isn't anywhere else?
