So after afew problems ive suffered though this last week, (My army case, with my tau and my marines in it, being left outside , in the heat, in a closet under alot of heavy stuff for atleast a month, And then, someone putting the case infront of my parking space in the garage when i was out, ending with me running it over..) I've realized ill need to start over with my marines if i still want to play them. I've decided to come up with another new chapter, different from my old one, and i wanted to get some advice on it.
From the very start of their founding, it was clear that they, the Ghosts of Sol, were one of the cursed founding chapters. After only afew assignments the chapter as a whole was seemingly lost to a series of expectionally violent warp storms. But after several thousand years, rumors of ghostly warriors, clad in dreary grey power armor began to circulate. Appearing on worlds, where the enemys of man kind, particualrly chaos had strong foot holds. Investigations by the inquisition looked in to the matter, However they had high suspision of the ghost chapter, Though they fought for man kind, it seemed any one who attempted to make contact with them would find warning shots flying over head, before the warriors simply vanished again. More distrubing still, the suits, even the very weapons used by this ghost chapter, were mixed with heretical armors and armorments.
So basicly what does this mean? Marine figures constructed by mixing togeather both Marine and Chaos sprues. Chaos legs, Imperial chestplate and helmet, chaos arms, and imperial weapons, and then vicea-verca. Or perhaps imperial dreadnoughts, with currupted chaos arms. Im interested in knowing what my fellow battle-brothers might think of this idea of mine.
Oh.. but i dont look so good with all those.. tentaclly things..
I think it sounds like a good ideal you got going there. Background story sounds pretty secure for a modeling/conversion fest. I'd look forward to seeing some of your models.
Sucks about your other armies tho :-(

I like the idea, very similar to the lost and the damned.
Maybe one aspect could be that they were slightly corrupted by those chaos warp storms and seek to regain the emperor's approval. This would help explain the use of chaos bits (also makes sense that they would use them because they are a very old chapter) and provide an interesting continuing story that could be developed.
Sounds good, make sure to include some LotD as Veterans or something.
With an army like that you could get away using the CSM Codex as well. Icon or Mark of Tzeentch could represent their ghostliness well, Daemons could be lesser apparitions, and stuff like that.
