hello guys. Now i wanna know your greatest moment with the imperial guard weather it be killing a squad of marines or land raider i wanna know. So i guess i better get everyone thinking so ill give you an example of an excellent moment in imperial guard history. a 10 man squad with cybernetic-enhancements gets into combat with a full squad of howling bashnees. Turn after Turn passes and they stay in combat killing off a couple of bashnees each turn. after 3 turns the guards men emerged victorious losing only 3 men. THe eldar player was in shock.
So now tell me your greatest moment in guard history (your history hopefully)
"Fire the goddamn guns u filthy maggots" yelled the commissar as the innumerable orks approched the falling fortification. " Sir our lasguns aren't hurting any of the enimies, what do we do?". " WELL I DON'T KNOW, KEEP FIRING U SILLY SOLDIER". Promptly the guardmen got obliterated by the oncoming orks end of story, END.
This happened a few years ago (back with 3rd ED IG) between a friend and I.
He was playing IG with Lord Solar Macharius and I was a nice swarm of Orks. I shoot him for a bit with some nice dakka and eventually the squad Macharius was a part of (and a attached was a Comissar as well) is required to take a LD test.
As you can guess, the Squad failed their test and Macharius, in the name of the Holy Emperor of Tera, was executed for waivering faith in battle.
(Yes its not a glorious IG thing...but its the best thing that happened with me and IG)
one day one of my junior officers went mad................
regular junior officer armed with a power weapon and a bolt pistol, no good armor, or invulnerable..... out of bad luck his squad got messed up as soon as he landed(drop troops)
and to my amazement he went ballistic and managed to kill a ork warboss and 8 other orks by himself........then he started chasing down a ork nob that was falling back(the nob's squad was massacred by a hellhound, but the nob had no wounds) he started chasing him, caught up to him, and proceeded to massacre him, then he ran behind a immobalized battlewagon, and somehow with his bolt pistol he killed it........and then he proceeded to kill a squad of burnas(except for the leader) before dying........
needless to say, because of his incredible luck, i decided it was worth it to give him horifica.........its suprising how survivable he is now........
Hellhounds are good tanks
Satan - "**** you Kage! And **** you Jables! I'll get you Tenacious DDDDdddddddeeeeee!!!!!!"
Mine was playing against Guard (if thats ok ) and is probably one of my favourite moments Ive had playing 40K. Opponent was defending against my Black Legion in an Assasination mission (game ends when guard HQ dies or Guard win) and despite throwing everything at the HSO for 4 turns I couldnt kill him. Until he failed a leadership test and was executed by a Commisar. Both me and my opponent went 'huh?' and then both us and everyone watching started laughing hysterically.
(it has been pointed out that bringing a Commisar to a mission like that may not have been the best idea-but what the hell)
Currently play: 4000+ of Black Legion
Recent Esclation league game at 1250 points
Opponent Space Wolves
I hate the OBEL rules for SW scouts. Its pretty much convinced me to take ogryns. Almost...
Ah Crap. IG vs SM in Annihlation, well here goes nothing
Well this is slightly better, more distance means more time to shoot
First turn to me.
I've deployed my ratlings in some woods giving them clear line of sight at his Rhino and his dreadnaught.
Of my nine ratlings, i get five hits but only ends up rending.
So rending I say? Well what the hell. Its front armor 11 so I only need at least a 3 on the rending roll.
Roll to rend comes up a 6! Penetrating hit!
Which is okay because now its more likely that his extra armor rhino will not be able to say "so what if i can't shoot"
Roll on Damage chart also comes up a 6!
By this time I am convinced that Ratlings will always be in my army as they are really freaking annoying to your opponent.
So here I am thinking that well hot damn rending actually worked! Maybe oh maybe I can
Fifth Edition Saved 40k for Me. I love my ratlings and my cover saves!
Back in the days of yore when 4e edition was around, I wanted to shut up one of the stuck up Chaos marine players who always brags about how abaddon kicks all sorts of ass (Truth be told, he doesn't, he just blows), so I challenged him to prove that quantity is better than quality. So I went ahead and built my army list with as many guardsmen and vehicules as possible.
In a 2k game, I had about 100+ guards with missile launchers and 3 plain basilisks, no indirect.
He had 3 landraiders, all full of termies, with Abaddon in tow of course. 2 bear minimum chaos marine squad, just to say he had his compulsory choices and a daemon prince that racked up 200+ pts.
So it was literrally horde Vs Meqs.
I go first. My first basilisk fires at the raider that has abaddon. A hit is rolled and guess what...Penetrating hit! And what's the damage? A 6! So Abanddon got annihilated on the first along with 5 other termies.
After realizing he juste lost 750+ pts in 1 hit. Packed his stuff and left the store...never to be seen again.
Imperial Guard: 3000 pts
Chaos Daemons: 1000 pts
I recognise one battle, 1500 points + 1500 points ally, Cadians + ultramarines versus Biel -Tan + Space Wolves. It was full of incredible... situations. It was 4th edition battle, Take & Hold scenario.
The very first thing - Basilisk that popped out of from behind Woods and rushed for the central objective. That was somewhat funny, especially when we are mentioning smoking Russ nearby.
Indestructable Battle Tank, that managed to Destroy Land Raider with it's Battlecannon, sustained two direct Melta-Hits, Multi-Melta, Scout strike, two Lascannon hits from Land Raider previous turn, Thunder Hammer hit. During Battle, it also managed to destroy drop pod, kill 6 marines, kill 2 Pathfinders. In the last turn, it was Immobilised and got Armament Destroyed by venerable Dreughnot that didn't Stunn or Shake it, and enemy chose Lascannon. With the Morazt's Dies Irae me and Ultra Commander decided, that he is going to fight till the end - he fired main cannon and scored penetrating hit... It blasted Venerable One.
The crew must have had a lot of laugh.
After enmassed fire of 3 Lascannon teams there was only one left. It shot at Wave Serpent, that moved 24 previous turn. Mede it explode, killed 8 of 10 Avengers and wounded Autarch. And killed two nearby Pathfinders.
Lascannon operator lived through battle.
Two squads - main HQ Command and regular infantry Deep Striked near one of Wolf Bike commanders. Plasmas failed to score any hit. Lasguns failed. Angry Melta-bearer smoked Marine despite cover.
Infantry command squad with JO and Commissar armed with Power Weapons and the rest tooled with plasmas + standard beare stood near Epistolary with his Terminator Retinue. They were charged by the second wolf commander as well as 5 grey hunters with power fist and 4 scouts with power weapon and thunder hammer. After a round of battle, there were no scouts, 3 Grey Hutners, unwounded wolf lord and Epistolary with his last remaining wound, as well as single terminator.
I decided to charge. ,,Hey, with Close Order Drill my Commissar get Initive 5!" I yelled, knowing that he is nevertheless going to die, but will maybe kill hunters. Less scorings later on.
But, as always, there was a tempation. Wolf character attacked my Command squad and killed 3 plasma operators. Then Epistolary struck, wounding wolf with Power Fist, but he didn't instant kill him (he had some sort of wolvish or marine item preventing from instant death-the other one would be glad to possess it). Then I decided to strike him with Commissar. It was crazy... but I got 3 hits of 4 with two sixes.
He failed both invulnerable saves.
The grey hunters wounded Commissar and killed standard Bearer. Junior officer and last terminator killed them, scoring all hits!
I can just imagine that...
,,No need for thanks, Brother-Librarian. We were just doing our duty." - said Commissar while cleaning his power sabre from blood.

Downing Abbadon the Despoiler with lasgun fire and naught else.
Is why, to this day, I hold that the humble las is second only to courage and faith as the greatest weapon available to the armies of mankind.
The name refers to facial hair, not playing style.Originally Posted by A news vendor's stand, London, June 1940
one of my Sentinels killed a squad of Terminators, ok i lied a little, the Terminators deep striked onto my sentinel, and they all died.
We who have seen war will never stop seeing it....In the silence of the night, we will always hear the screams....
