Hi, I was trying to understand the use of the deathwind missile launcher on the drop pod and I came across this tricky question :
Can a drop pod shoot on the same turn it landed ? Does it count a having moved for shooting purpose ?
CHAOS Undiv.: won 14/22 games EC: 4/7 WE: 6/9 DG: 10/15, TS: 3/7 Orks : 13/20 SM NL : 1/6 TAU: 14 of 24 IG: 3/7
Deep striking vehicles count as moving at cruising speed, so no weapons can be fired
I never thought of that, I've always assumed that the drop pod can fire either the deathwind launcher or the storm bolter when they landed, thanks for bringing that to my attention
Most Notable Achievements:
Killed a Revenant Titan in one shot.
Killed 900 pts worth of Blood Angels in 2 turns while only loosing 4 pts.
but then you could say a predator anihilator can move 12" into a tree, immobilise itself, then shoot in the shooting phase
and another glaring over site by GW, what happened to the Power of the machine spirit?
it was included in the cost in the last codex one more thing about the people that do not read the old codex before writing the new one(end or rant)
to take one you must have a full squad
and now can not land and fire
is this a conflict of the rules page 66 Fire points, last paragraph
"Models firing from a vehicle count as moving if the vehicle moves, and may not fire at all if the vehicle moved at cruising speed that tern"
so by that reasoning your squad can not fire the same tern it lands in a drop pod. hmmmm
or am i just a diluted and deranged person?
Though wouldn't make sense if the drop pod landed ,unloaded its cargo then couldn't fire. I don't get it. It's supposed be providing fire suport for the landing squad, and eveyone i've talked to about it says the same thing. Common sense has to come in judgement when the rules lack specific detail and....

Sanit: support fire? with a storm bolter? I alwasy thought the point of the drop pod was to deploy troops...safely...
