How come i never read anything good about terminators?
I always read they are to dear in points and stuff i had a match vs imperial guard and they did so much damage it was shocking.
Less of the terminators hate and show some love.
Fielding the best armour save + invun is always nice, and depending on the load-out you can quickly earn your points back, but its a big cost where 10+ marines could be bought for the same price as 5 termies. Sometimes shere number of bodies means more than an armour save...
Question for your, in your game vs IG, how many termies did you take, what wargear did they have, and what did they kill/how much. I'll be shocked if they earned much more than their points value back.
Imperial Guard are a horde army, so even though you may have killed a lot of guardsmen, they probably weren't worth a lot.
For example, 5 Terminators = 50 Conscripts or slightly less than 35 Guardsmen.
There is no such thing as a plea for innocence in my court. A plea for innocence is guilty of wasting my time. Guilty.

An enemy who knows what hes doing will can destroy a squad with a few plama gun shots and a power weapon or 2.
If a Tactical squad faced this they would lose 90 points not 200.
Desolation Fists - 600pts
I love using terminators and have a large collection of them. They are effective at killing everything (except maybe a monolith.) The key to using them is to not have a single 5 man squad of them being the only "scary" unit in your army. My personal favorite thing to field is all 3 terminator squads, heavy flamers, (twin linked with the hero) supported by 3 vindicators, depending on the point limit. This config is available even at 1000 pts or so. Most armies are neither prepared nor equiped to deal with this amount of "killing power" this formation has, as each is able to wipe out an enemy squad every turn. Anything capable of piercing terminator armor, will likely be dead by the end of your second turn. All n All, terminators are a massive deal in points (+bonus for blood angels) for how they are equipped. They just attract a lot of attention and need other "scary" units to keep the enemies attention off your individual units, and more on your entire army wondering how they are going to deal with it all.
I agree completely with you Mechman. Terminators are awesome. I played a game recently against orcs and a 5-man terminator squad completely wiped out a 12-man Burna boy squad and 5 nobs. Their point value was a little over 400 points, so they earned double their point value back.
Just look what you get for your 40 points:
That is a very powerful package for 40 points.
- A 2+ save and 5+ invulnerable
- Stormbolters (A 5-man terminator squad gets as many shots as a 10-man Tac squad, but if they move, their range stays 24 and doesn't drop to 12.)
- Two strength 8 power weapon attacks (instant death anyone?)
- The ability to move and fire heavy weapons.
- The ability to deep-strike.
Don't forget, terminators are scary to your opponent. Many players will dedicate a greater point value of stuff to shoot at them than the actual point value of the terminators themselves.
And most importantly, Terminators models look amazing.
I salute you, Machman, and I give you rep!

I like termies. I always toss in 2 squads of 5 with a flamer in my 2k list. They give you those nice power fists, some ability to take down some horde troops or crack open armor or big nasties with those power fists.
I agree that they're not quite worth their points a lot of times, but they are gorgeous models and so much fun! If I wanted to win every game, I'd never stop playing my mean ork list, but I like to take em in my marines, as I am far less competitive with the list and am willing to take a hit in pure effectiveness for some sweet models.
Plus, now with AoBR, you can pick up virtually a whole deathwing for very little! A few conversions and maybe a special character and some tanks and you've got an army!
Also, I think (I know, what a shock from primarily an orky guy!) that termies have to be used with a deft hand to be effective. I faced my orks off against deathwing at round 2 of 'ardboyz and, while I came out on top, the guy who brought the army held his own for a good while.
In summation, I think termies are good and fun but are only really competitive in the hands of a master, much like many options in this game.
I'm trying to catalog every song with a reference to yetis or Sasquatch. Please help.
I've always had a soft spot for Termies, especially the Lightning claw variant.
I have about 30 terminators altogether, and intend to buy a box of Thunderhammer ones to go in my first Company. 50 Veteran marines plus 50 Terminators led By Termy Captain, and at times, joined by Chapter Master himself.
still very much a pipe dream but I have another 50 plus years to live yet!
