In the 5th Ed rule book, Force weapons were changed from "Killing Outright" to "Causing Instant Death". This means Tyranid Monstrous Creatures in Synapse range or 'Eternal Warriors' are not affected by force weapons.
I wrote up a recent battle report here and there is some debate about it.
Check it out here:

What do you rules lawyers think?
"A love for tradition has never weakened a nation, indeed it has strengthened nations in their hour of peril."
Sir Winston Churchil
The Codex always trumps everything else in disputes. So the Nemesis Force Weapon will still insta kill anything, regardless of the newer rules. When we have a codex update that'll change but until then, enjoy being able to insta kill them.
Agreed. If we're forced to play RAW, and forced to play Codex >> BRB, then our Force Weapons don't technically cause Instant Death. They just remove all the wounds from a model, so TMCs can still be insta-gibbed by our Force Weapons.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

Grey Knights arent the only army with Force Weapons, so when 5th ed came out it changed the rules for Force Weapons, no matter what army uses them. So Grey knight Force Weapons now cause Instant Death, like everyone elses force weapons
One Shot, One Kill
If the Codex entry on Force Weapons had said "Refer to main rulebook" then you would be correct as the rule is coming from it.
Its to stop codex creep going out of control. Basically GW said 'your dex = God' so our rules stand over BGB rules. Technically you should not mix and match so our force weapons still rock. If you did decide to follow the BGB you would no longer have true grit for example.
I hear and I forget, I see and I remember, I do and I understand
Success is the ability to go from failure to failure without losing your enthusiasm.
It's always been the case where Codices trump BRB and FAQs trump Codices.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
It is a good question. I am just getting back into the game after a year off. As far as I know the guys that I play with use the 5th ed rules for Force Weapons. No more killing out right. Does it suck *shrugs* I will roll with the punches. There is nothing in are newest FAQ about it either. As far as I am concerned they nerfed are LR(C) with PotMS.On a side note. My Vindicare assassin is so much fun, for the fact I can kill powerfists locked in combat.
Why use science and education when ignorance and superstition will work just as well.
I might write like a ork but i fight like a poet.
Some one tell me they have ever seen a nightbringer die from a Nemesis Force Weapon.
