Okay, so there's 2 unknown primarchs, right?
These two primarchs appear as stricken from Imperial records in a codex I read.
I can imagine why one would strike Horus and the other traitors from the list, but why these two? Is there something beyond what we know out there?
Oh, here's a few words from the Lexicanum website:
In every listing of the 20 legions in Imperial records, legions II and XI are stated as having "all records expunged from the library". Considering that the traitor legions are simply listed as excommunicate traitoris but still included in these same lists would mean that the records were deleted deliberately and for a reason only known by those who perpetrated the action.
I am not a SM so I wouldn't know. I do, however, serve the Emperor.
There's been tons of speculation on this but there is nothing concrete regarding the lost Primarchs. The consensus is that GW left them out intentionally to give players an opening for coming up with their own or to simply add another mystery for us to ponder over for years and years.
GW intentionally left them blank so people could create their own fluff.
Common ideas are :
-Primarch was first to be corrupted by Chaos or a Xenos, and his Legion and name were expunged lest the taint of his betrayal and weakness lead others down the wrong path
-the Legions were created as a final resort, and were sent by Him on earth to some unknown location to wait for some unknown command to come out and do some unknown task (2 Full legions would certainly put the spanner in the works for any would be chaos warlord intent on attacking Earth again, or would give the Tyranid fleets a good fight if they got close to Earth, would be a good starting point should the Emperor regain his body and wish to lead a new crusade of conquest, etc.
-The Primarch died young (he had to be found as all 20 primarches and their legions are mentioned, just not by name) and his legion was wiped out (by Imperium or enemy)
-The Primarch led a crusade into the eye and were lost, realizing it was a silly mistake, the Emperor deletes the records to avoid looking silly.
-The Hard drive the data was sitting on got corrupted and it was simply factory error

Yeah, like said above its part of GW's deliberate policy to never completely cover any story line so as to give us, and more importantly them, the option to add stuff in at a later date and look like it was supposed to be there all along. Besides unknown (unknowable) mysteries make a great narrative tool, I dislike the ultramarines because I know too much about them, wheres the mystery and excitement?
Oh, I dislike the Ultramarines too, but that's just because of their status as..."overdogs", if there's such a word. They're a bit too much on the forefront. Where's the more obscure chapters? There were 20 legions in the first founding. 2 out for II and XI. That leaves 18 for us to play with. Half of them were traitors. Fine, then we're still left with 9 whose fluff we could stand to be expanded upon.
But back to my OP...
Rogal Dorn said it was a tragedy, so we can pretty much rule out outright war. Maybe it was an accident that they died? Perhaps..they killed ONE ANOTHER?
There is absolutely no fluff on the 2 missing legions in any GW publication after 2nd edition apart from the legions overview in the SM 'dex and a little stuff in the Horus Heresy novels.
Got a "good" rumour from a GW staffer? Forget about it, LO'ers know more than any random GW shop staffer.
Voor alle nederlanders:
The Dutch Legion
... Ok so gere is my guess... Legion of the damned are one... (A brave legion lost in the warp on route to a war zone)
as for the other... I would guess perhaps a geneseed that had rapid mutation or some such... (however most likely just room for us to make our own and for us to specualte and argue over)

But the other idea is baad :p
Oh geez...I think I know what became of Corax.
okay, maybe not. But still. The similiarities struck me as odd.

Aren't the LotD the Fire Hawks? Their fleet got lost in the Warp and the LotD showed up a little bit after that, leading to the connection. If they had been a lost Legion they would have been operating for much longer.
But I do like the idea of the lost legions turning up as accidents or mutations instead of outright betrayal. I had always supposed that they had been under strength and were wiped out in battle. All records were erased to hide the shame. Another idea is that the Primarch was killed (landed on lava planet) and the marines were absorbed into other Legions.
yea me... many have said that the fire hawks are the LotD however the LotD are models orginally came out wearing mkI (I saw rogue trader marines painted up in the LotD scheme a very liong time ago), also .. yea i have always liked the idea of one of the primarchs never being found... perhaps he didnt even die and he flourished and it going to one day save the imperium when he comes back from his lifge long crusade.
