I have been away at college without access to a GW so I just got my space marine codex.
Now under 4th edition I used the chapter trait that lets you take Bolt Pistols and Close combat weapons in your tactical squads instead of bolters.
Under the new codex that rule seems null and void and there doesn't seem to be a similar rule so I have 4 tactical squads of marines armed with Bolt Pistols and Chainswords.
Any suggestions as to how I should proceed?
how about blood angels?
Lets go massacre something

templars. move+run+zeal adds up to 13" per turn in 5th ed...that's faster then most vehicles!
Hahahaha -_- exact same predicament as me! Currently that squad is shelved, though as my army gets bigger I'm thinking of giving them a rhino, and using them as a generic Assault Marine Squad, or if I touch up the paintjobs and glue on some extra marine gubbinz, Vanguard Veterans.
Iron Swords 3rd Company - We are the swords which reap the bodies of our foes.
Train of thought will be terminating at.. edible murder weapons!
As stompalot said... blood angels have assault troops as TROOP choice, you can also get free rhinos in exchange for the jump packs...
Much must be risked in war.
Blood Angel Stormraven Conversion Work In Progress.
well i have thought about it and
A. I don't really wanna go buy another codex right now and
B. I play my own chapter and don't know if I want to follow some other chapters rules and de facto play that chapter
C. I have looked at the BA and BT rules and just don't like them that much. I think the aspects I want to use out of them don't outweigh the drawbacks. I mean don't get me wrong I can see how someone would but they just aren't for me I think.
SO I have a whole bunch of extra bolters laying around. If I painted them up and glued them on to the Marines Belts do you think people would haggle? I could say my guys are just ready for close combat. Obviously they wouldn't get the +1 for 2 combat weapons but oh well. DO you think people would be fine with that?
Insanebear10, If i were you i would hang on to those squads and put them to one side untouched. They will probably be fine in the next edition. I had to ditch my thirteen man command squad ( captain plus attached librarian and chaplain plus ten HQ squad marines). Now HQ squads are five, but they can all have power weapons. Screwed up my entire fluff, and had to make new purchases, which is the entire point from GWs perspective.
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
