Sorry if these have been asked before but I always wanted to know, that and one of my local hobby shops will soon start carrying varnish specifically for this method.
Would the dip method be good for space marines (well Ultramarines at least)?
And does it actually look all that good?
I am just (literally) starting to dip - as an experiment for a new Imperial Fist army. If I manage to get some time over the next couple of weeks, I'll try to post photos of my results.
That said, some links which you might find interesting:

This process does seem promising as it cuts down the time taken to paint.
Dipping tends to look better on models with lots of texture (think Tyranids, and even Orks to an extent). Space Marines have a lot of flat surfaces and the dip can pool on them. That being said, it doesn't look too bad if done well and I think the darker the marine the better it looks.
Here are some that look pretty good:

Thanks for the links I'm sure they'll help a lot!
I am going to try it out on some tyranids that I got from a box set and see how it looks, but I'm hoping it looks good on marines as all these little details on them are killing me.
Plus with my starting a lizardmen army for WFB it would save a lot of time see as how I heard dipping is a good method for them.
Hmm, I thought it looked good on the IF but on the CF I think it made their armour too dark! Seeing as my smurfs are blue also I don't think this would look too good on them.
Thanks for the links anyway, I'll still be checking his method out on my tyranids and mabey even my lizardmen.
