Well I was wondering which one would be better for a GT or other tourny?
Please state which one and give a good example why besides the all famous "OMG Dark ANGELZ Fluff FIVE X BEtter tHAN Black TEmplar."
Or some other crap so please give me a good reason.
I Will be playing a solid BT or DA list not Deathwing or Ravenwing or total tank/drop pod BT.
First off, before anyone else asks you- what is your playing style! It is hard for me to tell YOU what YOU should do with Your spare time and Your spare money if I don't know the slightest thing about you.
Posting a poll for this will likely just change this subject into a popularity contest.
Finally, read up on the fluff for those two chapters and decide what you like best, if you do that you should get a much better result than with a public poll.
IG Best Gen 1st overall of 10 DE 4th overall of 6
Eldar 3rd Overall/Best General of 26--2nd Overall/Best General of 7--1st Overall/Best General of 11
If you're looking for tourney effectiveness BT win hands down. Dedicated Troops LRCs, Preferred Enemy, 2AC Termies with Vet Skills, and various other bits make BT a very solid army nowadays.
DA got shafted, we're pretty much reduced to relying on DW/RW or taking the overpriced, inferior version of everything from the SM Codex.

Not that the Space Marine codex is out, you pretty much have to take nothing but Deathwind/Ravenwing to get a good army out of DA, perhaps a few tanks. Out if interest, is there any particular reason you don't got for a middle ground and take normal Space Marines?
They may not be able to pull off some of the combat abilities quite as well as Templars do, but they are so much more versatile and have a lot of options.
1. I don't care about fluff at this point. I have read both and they both please me.
2. You don't really need to know my playing style. I said give me reason to play them not."Which one I would like best."
3.I hate vanilla. One reason is I hate how they are the same variant.
drop both codices, paint your models how you want them and take the new marine codex,
it realy is MUCH better then the black templar codex or the dark angels codex.
so my oppinion is:
take the standard marine codex, and paint your models BT or DA
BT....because Emp Champ+20 man squads+Prefered Enemy= deadly

erm...if fluff doesn't matter, then it comes down to whether you like the models or how you want to play, so yes, we do need to know your playing style. if i tell you to play black templars because they get 20 man squads, some cool special rules and land raider crusaders as troop transports, it won't be a "good" reason unless you like going heavy mech or mass assault troops.
the vanilla codex is not so much vanilla any more. the special characters change the rules - 2 of them giving stubborn instead of combat tactics for example - of how the army is played and you can create a variety of armies.
having said all of that, pretty much the only reason to play dark angels is ravenwing or deathwing. if you're not going to do that, then black templars are more competitive and fun.
by the way, not sure if you meant it, but your post came off a little rude, hence my snarky first paragraph.
The Black Templars seem to be a better choice gamewise, but from the first time i saw them in white dwarf when the models were released i got turned off by the chains. Weapons chained onto arms ? Daft. I voted for Dark Angels because of the background.
Jager bombs. Very efficient at wiping out friend or foe.
3. Or the fluffs super important.
I have been around this game long enough to understand fluff and play style.
So far black Templar is winning my heart
