Im just wondering whether to go for a 3rd tactical squad & droppod, or to use the points and play a dreadnought in the pod or 5 terminators (in a landraider)
well it all comes down at what do you want to do.
Need to capture objectives - marines with a drop pod.
Need to divert some shooting from your squads or mess up your opponents plans - Dreadnought in a drop pod.
Need to scare the living sh*t from your opponent - Assault Terminators in a Land raider.
Personally, I like to scare the living sh*t from my opponent
Hint - you could consider taking Sternguard (and configure them to any role you deem necesary)
More boyz iz betta!
seriously though, i'd go with the tactical squad. if you only have 2 other troops choices, you can't go wrong.
i'm assuming you have the land raider already as 5 termis+lr =/= 1 tactical squad in terms of points.
would be helpful if you could post the rest of your army...
hi - yeah, i usually use 2 landraiders, my 2 tactical squads, 3 speeders (as 3 units) and a chaplain
i also have the thunderfire for long-range carnage but i havent tried that out yet
in that case, i'd go with a dreadnought. you are eliminating the enemy's ability to use small arms fire by putting your scoring units in land raiders so putting anpother tactical squad on the table is asking to get them blown away. a dreadnought in a pod with melta and flamer. venerable dread if you can afford it. ironclad if you want to convert.
