Are there any models, with 3 wounds or more that AREN'T immune to Instant Death?
quote from GW site Librarian description, "...Armed with a force weapon a Librarian can slay an opponent outright with a single wound. This enables Librarians to take out powerful enemy characters such as Demon Princes and Hive Tyrants."
Well Hive Tyrants are commonly said to be immuned to Instant Death, except when I read the Tyrants rules, its states, immune to instant death when caused by a strength double its toughness. But the straight rule for Synapse, seems to superseed it, anyhow.
Threw my Librarian up against Ghazull Thrakka, and wait, he's got a metal head which gives him an extra attack on a charge, and as a side bonus immune to ID.
I don't play all that often, but besides some 2 wound models, I don't see the use or need to risk the use of a force weapon.
You're right, most things worth killing now have Eternal Warrior.
Force Weapons can still nuke Marine characters (not Marneus or Lysander), Chaos characters (not Abaddon or DPs), Ork characters (not Ghaz), Tau and Elar characters, Necron characters, and Fexes outside Synapse range but those are things a PF can handle just as well or better.
Nerfing force weapons and the Librarian's stats have reduced his combat potential significantly. I use him for his power nowadays.
Yes, you are right, that blows for =][= as well... This is just an overprices power weapon now ;(
Picture the scene... a confident eldar wraith lord charges your tactical squad with librarian in it. You pump might of the ancients up. wound it on a 6 and suddenly mr look at me you cant hurt me, is dead. Admittedly id rather use might of ancients and the quickening while charging from a land raider. but the force weapon has its uses against people like pedro cantor or Vulcan Heston ... and you'll face those bad boys alot from what ive seen so far.

That requires an Epistolary to use 2 powers at once, and since you're both I4 the Eldar stands a good chance of splattering you unless you take Terminator Armor and a Storm shield.
You've either got 4 attacks charging that hit on a 3+ and wound on a 6+ and get pasted by the Wraithlord, or only get 3 attacks and have a 5+ or 3+ invulnerable to protect you.
Also the Wraithlord costs 100 points compared to a minimum 150 for your Epistolary.
Average opponent = 50+ models, maybe 2 you can instant death, hmmm...unless your opponent blunders his character into your librarian seems unlikely he'll even meet something with multiple wounds. Oh s and lets run down the amazing Libby stats, he needs fours for anything worth popping and 4 or worse to wound. With 4 attacks while charging with a Pitol/Force Weapon, you get...wait for it...1 wound on average "OMG I passed the invul save, Pedro is now cleaning you off his PF". Seriously, a vet sarge with a PF in a squad does alot better than a force weapon.
