The current state of my Space Marine army is just below the 3000-mark with a setup mostly built around the concepts of "What's At Hand" and "What Looks Nice On The Tabletop".
The result, predictably, is not what you'd expect from a Space Marine army.
So I'm wondering what to add to it. There's plenty of things on my mind, but I can't shake the feeling that most of it is just going to get me more useless heaps of black ceramite, so I turn to you more experienced folks here to tell me what I should add in order to prevent my troops from being mutilated. Because quite frankly, as it is now, my choices for battles less than 2000 points are very limited.
The Army List is somewhat as follows;
Chapter Master with: Stormbolter, Lightning Claw (Single), Artificer Armour, Jump Pack, Auxiliary Grenade Launcher
Captain with: Power Weapon, Bolter
Librarian with: Bolt Pistol, Force Weapon
Chaplain with: Space Marine Bike
Dreadnought with: Autocannon, Extra Armour
Dreadnought with: Multimelta, Extra Armour
10 Marines, no upgrades.
3xTactical Squads consisting of
10 Marines with: Flamer
2xTactical Squads consisting of
10 Marines with: Missile Launcher
1xTactical Squad consisting of
10 Marines with: Missile Launcher, Flamer
5 Scouts with: Sniper Rifles, Camo Cloaks
9 Marines with: 1 Plasma Pistol, Meltabombs
4 Marines, no upgrades
5 Marines with: Lascannon, Plasma Cannon, Heavy Bolter, Missile Launcher
Land Raider Crusader with: Pintle-Mounted Multimelta, Pintle-Mounted Stormbolter, Hunter Killer Missile
Predator Annihalator with: Hunter Killer Missile, Pintle Mounted Stormbolter, Lascannon sponsons.
Whirlwind with: Hunter Killer Missile, Pintle Mounted Stormbolter.
So, what's the diagnosis, doc? Can I save her? What do I need to do it?
Please, enlighten me.

first off, what chapter do you play? As nothing was mentioned in your post, I would suggest you look at one of the Chapter Captains, such as Lysander or Kantor. You'll then want to base your army arround those characters because of their specific chapter tactics they give their forces. If you do not have the new dex, then that is the first thing you'll need. Other then that, everyone looks pretty good. You got a good fundamental army, with good diversity. Your tactical squads can merge together to make 3-10man tactical squads with RL and Flamer, which is a good basis for a force no matter what in 5ed.
Hope that helped a bit

The Chapter is just a Codex Chapter. No special rules or trinkets.
As for using Tactical Squads with both Flamers and Missile Launchers, those two weapons defeat eachother's purpose unless the Squad is split into Combat Squads (Yes, I do have 5th Ed Codex).
Of course, I may have expressed myself poorly in my original post.
What I'm looking for is what additional units would best supplement this army, such as a Land Speeder Squadron or Razorback.
Ever thought of a Vanguard Veteran Squad? A ten man Vanguard Squad, kitted out with a relic blade and jump packs ( and all others power swords perhaps? With all this, it WILL be an expensive squad ( 375 pnts if I'm correct ), but it is also a devastating one.
You can choose to apply the "heroic intervention" rule. This gives them the oppertunity,
not only to deep strike, but also assault those juicy units of the enemy.
If you also put in a scout bike squad, with a locator beacon ( no, in this case every deep striking unit, weather jump pack or otherwise ) they won't scatter. A vanguard unit, kitted out as above, using heroic intervention, supported by a scout bike squad, so they wont scatter...
Just think of the possibility.
I was thinking of a adding Land Speeders as a Fast Attack choice, but it hit me when you started about Vanguard Veterans that they count as a Fast Attack choice as well. I keep getting them confused with 4th edition having all Veterans as Elites.
That's probably some good advice there since I don't have many dedicated melee units. Thanks!
I noticed that your devastator squad only has 5 models in it. May I suggest to upgrade it to a ten man squad. It may seem pointless, but that squad shall attract almost every
weaponfire that the enemy can spare at it, and any casualties will reduce the squads effectiveness ( since the only models you can remove are those carrying the big guns ).
In a ten man squad, you simply remove the bolter armed models, so the squad remains just as effective as before the shooting.
About your scouts:
Why not add sergeant Telion. For only 50 points, he has two shots, with pinning and rending, and you can CHOOSE which model should be removed ( i.e. that nasty powerfist in an ork squad which can hurt your dreadnoughts? Why not shoot him out
And if you upgrade the squad to a ten-man squad, ( all but one with a sniper rifle, and include a missile launcher if there is a tank, or a heavy bolter against swarms ),
Telion can take care of those nasty upgraded models, and the rest can shoot them up further to reduce the other squad in size.
Maybe replace it with Cato Sicarius? You maybe won't use the "coup the grāce" attack alot, but it gives a random tactical squad ( chosen by the controlling player of course ) the counter-attack, scout, infiltrate or tank hunter special rule. ( counter attack will be nasty ).
Give Sicarius a command squad, including a company champion ( 3 power weapon attacks extra ), and you have a small, but effective unit, which stays alive, and survive longer due to the "feel no pain".
This is so far as I've come. I hope it will help.
p.s.: ever thought of (a) sternguard unit(s)? they have for kinds of ammunition ( see codex for details ) which prove very effective. And if you include Pedro Kantor as an HQ model, those sternguard also count as scoring units.
I would prefer not to have to use any special characters, even with the Codex advise to rename/repaint them to be part of your own army, they'll sort of kill the feel of the army. Besides, what's going to stop me from using Marneus Calgar just to make my friends cry, and after that, well, it really won't be "my" army anymore. Just a set of oddly painted Ultramarines.
I might take up some bolter-brothers for the Devastators though, sounds like a good move.
Ok, a noble cause.
What if it's a 10-man terminator squad w/2 special weapons?
