In the same vein as the 3000 points of marines thread, I have recently come into a large sum of money thanks to Christmas and I'm not sure what to spend it on. Looking at what I currently have I know that I am lacking in Fast Attack option, and so I am wondering which ones I should go for.
-Chapter Master, Storm Bolter, Lightning Claw, Artificer Armor
-Captain, Bolter, Relic Blade, Artificer Armor
-Chaplain, Terminator Armor, Stormbolter
-10-man Terminator Squad- 1 Chainfist, 1 Assault Cannon, 1 Cyclone ML
-5-man Terminator Assault Squad- All TH/SS
-10 Man Scout Sniper Squad w/a Heavy Bolter
-2 10-man Tactical Squads w/flamer and ML combo and BP/CCW on serge
-10-man Tac. Squad w/Meltagun and BP/CCW on serge
-10-man Tac. Squad w/Plasma gun
-A Razorback that can be turned into a Rhino (And has either TL-HB or TL-LC)
-A 5-man Assault Squad w/a Power Fist
-Vindicator w/Siege Shield
-An All-Lascannon Predator
-Heavy-Bolter/Autocannon Predator w/Stormbolter
-Land Raider w/Stormbolter
-Land Raider Redeemer w/Stormbolter and Multimelta
I am also going to get a Whirlwind for more Pie-Plate action and some indirect fire, but that's not the question.
As you can see, my army lacks in the Fast Attack Dept. with only 1 5-man assault squad, and I'm just not sure what I should get that would mesh well with the rest of my army. I am considering getting some Land Speeder Typhoons, but again, I'm not sure whether they would fit well with the army.
Boost your assault squad to 10 men with at least one flaner, then get a squad of 3 attack bikes armed with multimeltas. For your last slot either some scout bikes with cluster mines or 3 landspeeders with a HF and MM each.
Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
Are you kidding? Land Speeders are the answer to everything! Not assualt Marines!
I might be biased, an assualt marine equivalent for a space wolf is 30 points minimum
The Wolf time is upon us!
Rep for the Rep God! Positive for the Positive Throne!
Armies: Space Wolves, Imperial Guard, Emperors Children, Necrons, Eldar
I'm seconding Land Speeders, but specifically Land Speeder storms with multi-meltas, to outflank while carrying a 5 man scout squad. I like outflanking with 5 scouts inside, with combat blades and a powerfist. It has surprising close combat power, but if points are tight, melta bombs can work instead of a powerfist. It's good in close combat, can claim distant objectives, and are great for catching vehicles that didn't move the previous turn off guard.
You could even field a 10 man scout squad and equip 5 for the speeder and 5 for sniper/bolter shooting.
Attack bikes with multi-meltas also work well, but they're kind of cheesy, so it's up to you.
Outflanking isn't the most reliable rule, and it gets fairly expensive for an AV10 skimmer and 5 Scouts.
MM/HF Speeders are awesome, they can pop a tank or roast infantry for a fairly low cost and can even Deep Strike if necessary.
Assault Marines are really cheap and really useful. 10 with 2 flamers and TH/SS ends up cheaper than before and is really quite useful.
Typhoons are worth mentioning, they're expensive but 2 krak missiles on the move is nothing to scoff at.

MM/HF Speeders is choice when you don´t know what to buy.
Scout bikers are very interesting tactical choice. Take 3-4,get sergeant powerfist, infiltrate them and charge S3 unit or outflank.
5 scouts and a speeder storm w/flamer or multi-melta isn't cheap? It is for Space Marines. Last I checked, all the comperable units start at around 200-230 points.
5 Scouts with melta bombs and a speeder transport with a melta is 140 points by my count, which doesn't exactly break the bank, and you can even add 5 scouts with sniper rifles for next to nothing, and have them claim an objective and/or snipe away.
With the new missions, it's a great way for troops to grab distant objectives, and with combat blades and either a powerfist or meltabombs, they can do quite a bit of damage as well. The speeder makes sure they get to where you want them to be.
Don't think of the speeder storm as a stand alone unit. Think of it as a way of making an already good unit (scouts) all the more awesome. ^_^
