Ok. This has bean on my mind for a long time, should i make one, and how should i do it.
People seem to have the commoin belief that the Vahalans would make excelent rusians. I come from a deep russian/polish heritage. (man i wish i met my russian grandparents i bet they were such comis.) Actually from what i have learned is that only russian officers wore the muffs (for U guys who don't know what muffs R there the correct term for the fur hoods the vahalan's have) on their uniform. I was thinking maybe useing cadians as the mainstay infantry squads of the force. Doctrinewise what do you guys think? Iron disceplene, die hards (it takes more courage to retreat than to advance is the russian army ), maybe sharpshooters (the russians have their marksmen), allow ratlings, and of course conscrips!
Also as a house rule thier should be MOTHERLAND! which would act like the ork's WAAAGH! special ability. Anyways i think it would me cool to take an inquisitor (use the chekov model) and have some veteran warriors and a servo skull make up his retinue. I say this because the russian army had Inquisitors as right wing comanders dispatched to almost every company.
So do we have any other lines of business we need to discuss?
Private fires lasgun at avatar of Kaine... *rolls* 6.... to wound.... 6.... avatar falls to the ground...
Private: Sir... was that even possible?
Officer: I think i'm going to kill myself now... private, fetch a commisar!
Make sure you add as many commissars as you can possibly field. Russians had a knack for killing their own men.
And I still think you should go with the Valhallans. Cadians just don't have that Russian look, unless you want to do very heavy conversions.
Under the conversions section I posted a thread about converting las-rifles into AK-47s and a number of other modern conversions. This may be of interest even though it is a post-WWII weapon. One of the great conversions is turning a H. Bolter into a water-cooled machine gun similar to what the Ruski's used; another is the PPSH or the "burp-gun." This is used in the movie Enemy at the Gates by several people. It looks like a wooden submachine gun with a large ammo drum attached to the bottom. Conversions involve cutting down a lasgun and using sprue to add an ammo drum. Pretty simple. Also, painting tanks to be very Russian really adds good affect. The mass infantry charges are the key character product, though. Shooting your own troops adds affect as well. Turning Rough-Riders into Cossacks is a good effect (see the WH fantasy Kislev Boyars model) and making vets into Spetnaz (special forces in Russia). The Confessor Khyirnov model is a great Russian looking piece.

Uh, panzerjeager, wheres that topic? I looked through the first 3 pages of the conversion section, and saw nothing. Could you give me a topic name to search? or a link? I'm curious to see how you did this.
Okay, yah got mme. I can't find it either. Here's how yah do it.
Here'a a pic of an AK:
Notice the tube over the barrel. Cut off the barrel of the lasgun with a razor knife and reverse it (flip it upside down) and re-attach after proper filing. Add a triangle cut piece of plastic on top of the muzzle for the raised iron sight. Then cut off the clip and the front part of the sight/scope on top of the lasgun and the tube section which connects the front and rear parts of the sight. The rear functions as a rear aperature. Add a bannana clip by either cutting one from plasticard or using a bolter magazine. Viola! AK-47. You can also add a drum mag like this one by cutting it out of one of the larger sections of sprue.:
I won't be posting for a while after tomarrow, so if you have any more question get them in.
Here's a link to some more great conversio ideas. I have done all the ones on this page except the MG-42, the Browning and the Glock.

correction, the germans had the MP-44, which is the weapon the AK-47 was based on
Actually, it was the SturmGewehr 44, which was the very first assault rifle. Magnificent gun, and a true marvel of modern engineering.
