Now that we all had enough time to try out and play with the many new squads dedicated to cc in the Witch Hunters Codex, which one do you use the most.
The old Sisters of Battle army didn't have much of close combat hability. Seraphim squads would jump in and out with some flaming in between but that was probably the only squad from the list that would willingly get involved in cc.
With the new WH codex we now have a real choice of models we might wanna get stuck in it, so I ask, which and why????
My favourite choice out of my pure SOB army list is my highly equipped Celestian squad for close combat. I find that they are able to utilise the faith points to great potential and when in good numbers and well equipped are great fighters are giving a good impact against almost all foe. They are my favourite choice however due to the amount of variety available to them which is great for dealing with unexpected circumstances.
I just started WH about a month ago and I got a box of Seraphim becuase they looked kewl (I dont like the little Things they stand on to make it look like their flying tho, I am thinking about converting them by removing the little metal poles and using flying base poles instead.) But their name was awesome too. I soon realized that the Seraphim were a awesome group of peices they tore up my friends tau army game arfter game and they held their own agaisnt the Necrons too( Especially if you give them Inferno Pistols! They Tore up tanks agaisnt my other friends Space Marines (especially when they use Melta-Bombs!. They are a versalle( is that spell right) peice with all the different options they can be given and with the hit and run. They always find a way in every game I play to mess up my oppents especially when I have to tie down peices! Only problem is when I get my friends over( the Tau, Necrons, and Sm) they all shoot stright for the saraphim becuase they distest them!
I voted for arco-flagelents they seem good units to me, i like random units and they can hold there own plus the models are great.
Why did it only just accour to me that the sister part of sisyem mel came from SOB, i thought you were just a nun
The poster formaly known as VampireSoul, formaly known as OrkSlugga now known as Orkslugga.
Seraphim: With the average Strength and Toughness of sisters things can go wrong fast, so hit & run out just to strike again later is a good plan.
And over there we have the labyrinth guards.
One always lies, one always tells the truth, and one stabs people who ask tricky questions.
I like my saraphim because they are great at every thing and nothing at the same time!
-They have melta bombs and inferno pistols, which makes them great tank killers
-They all have good initiative and weapon skill + two close combat weapons
-Flame pistols and twin linked bolt pistols make them really good at clearing out infantry and then leaving close combat after they are assaulted.
Then they cant do any of that!
-To kill vehicles they need to move through a hail of bullets
-They still get murdered in close combat with things you are worried about like bloodletters
-The short range of their bolt pistols hardly makes them good at shooting eather.
They are an impossible unit to use, but they entire sisters of battle army used to be like that too! Once you get used to them, then things start to turn around. Their strengths really shine when you take out that first landraider with 10 melta bomb packing saraphim. Or when your squads of saraphim rush up to those orks and make 50+ of them disapear in one turn with flame pistols. Even better when those blood letters kill all of your saraphim off, but are now within rapid fire range of 60 or more battle sisters.
Although in my opinion Seraphims are in fact not only the best Sororitas squad available but also the best one in cc most people (me included) when presented with the choice will take Arco-flagellants.
What i find a shame is that after all the re-vamping on the new codex for those who wish to play a pure Sororitas force barely have anything new and what we do (repentias anyone?) is almost useless.
[By pointless I mean that 90% of the time they will never make their points cost back]
For me it is a tie between Celestians and Seraphim. Holy Hatred makes the Celestians formidable, and Hit and Run does the same for Seras. Plus they get Faith points and are cheaper than arcos. Arcos are to uncontrollable for me, to expensive, and I don't like how they can drop dead. Repentias are to fragile.
The fire's going out...pass me another heretic.
I go with seraphim...
1: I don't have any other cc units (yet)
2: I've heard some good things about them, and would like to test them before I buy other units...
(No, I've never played with my sisters before. In fact, I've only done 2 battles with 40k in my life)
"I have died a thousand deaths, and I will die a million more..."
Have you noticed by the new rules that the Seraphims will even get better?
They will now be able to move 12" rapid fire with their twin-linked pistols and although they will not be able to assault they can move 6" on the assault phase... to get into cover maybe???
