What character type(s) do you use when playing? Do you spend 150 points on each or do you go for the cheaper ones?
I usually play with two characters at 80-90 points each. These can cause as much havoc as any expensive chaos-character, but lack the 'extreme' survivability.
I used to play with a 190+ points force commander before, but when I build up my new army (probably at least a year or two...) I'll use a lower commander and either a chaplain or a librarian. One of the last two will have a jump pack to follow an assault squad.
An extremely expensive character like that coupled with a full command squad with 4 powerweapons (techmarine, banner, medic, sergeant) is a HUGE points sink, but I can honestly say that they've never been killed! Ok, so once only the techmarine was left sitting in an immobile rhino...
BTW, I played Codex marines.
My characters are usually pretty expensive in blood angels.. Since a Sanguinary high priest is a must, along with a chaplain usually. I just give the chaplain a jump pack and terminator honors
The High priest is generally pretty expensive depending on the weapon combos i pick
my guys aren't generaly too expensive..my force commander is only 125 usualy
In a basic marine army i think the best thing to do is either go full out on a good Force commander or take a cheap chaplin. But in my blood angels i usualy take around a 220 point chaplin. (remember a BA chaplin is 180 poinst basic)
The poster formaly known as VampireSoul, formaly known as OrkSlugga now known as Orkslugga.
215 point BA librarian...oops
he works a treat though

145 for my Grand Master. 90 + 40 (SoS) + 15 (PW).
However, unless my friend lets me use my special GM I made. Haven't posted his rules up though.
Gonna play a game right now with Deathwing - again!!!!
Salamanders w/lots of scouts and sniper rifles.
Will post battle report in 2-3 hours.

I usually use a Commader, coming in at between 100 and 150pts. However, sometimes I use a classic 106pts Chaplain. ^_^
I always have to sink 105 points into the compulsary Emperor's Champion for the Black Templars, so I just get a cheapish Marshal for the HQ. He's only around 100 points and has a jump pack to fly around with the Assault Squad. The Emperor's Champion usually joins a Terminator Assault Squad and charges into battle in a Land Raider Crusader. Nigh unstoppable, save from a lucky Railgun shot.
