Hey, I am new at 40k but no stranger to fantasy. This is my first post and the army I have decided to join is the daemonhunters. So 'I have Assault on Black Reach and am getting the armybook friday.
But then I realised, I have no models. So would it be okay if I used some of the space marines as grey knights, converting and painting them that way. And using Imperial guard as storm troopers.
Would you play against this army or would you just say WTF, cheep punk.
hey man i dunno how the guys in your area play, but i personally run a 500 pt DH army constantly, using orks as IST and space marines as my GKs lol
so if i were to see you using that stuff i would say hell yes! join the club bro!
I would be all for you doing that... but it all depends on your local gaming group. I hope they accept your ragtag group with open arms. Welcome to the DH soldier
Yeah, as long as it comes to "getting to know my army" and "playing to find out what to purchase next" just about anything goes. At my gaming club people constantly "proxy" models to try out new things....would be quite expensive otherwise!
Absolutely. Any group worth your time should be willing to let you proxy your Black Reach marines as GKs while you learn the game and decide whether or not you're making a good decision. No army is for everybody, and the idea that you must shell out hundreds of dollars before you are even allowed to roll a single die is ludicrous and unfair.
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.

I suggest, that u mark some of the units (1 dropp of paint on the helmet), so you would know, who is the Justicar, BC, GKGM, Ink. That way you can't be accused of cheating. It works for me.
Actually to mark them I just paint their helmet a different color or do something to make them stand out. Or just paint the shoulder pads a different color.
with a little bit of modding they can eventually look like the real thing.
by taking a blade to the helmet you can quickly make it look Grey Knighty.
next you need to find some thing that can work as NF wepons...
so stress less.
however most people who play GKs will tell you our GW models look super sweet so ...start saving it's worth it.
Welcome to the Fight against Chaos, Brother.
