I've been searching the forums and haven't found the exact answer I was looking for so...
Brand new to actually owning 40k minis. Played once back in 1997 and have been reading the fiction and what not since then. Finally found time and moved to a place where I could play.
Through various random purchases I now have:
1 Command Squad
2 Tac squads of 10 each
1 Term squad of 5
1 Dev squad of 5
1 Land Speeder
I'm magnetizing the Pred and Speeder so I can swap out weapons. With the Predator and speeder in the mix, what are thoughts on what to arm the Dev squad with as once they're done I'm stuck with what I put on them. Do I use plasma cannons or bolt cannons or lascannons...?
Any opinions or input from you grizzled veterens would be much appriciated.
you buy another box marines for the bits and use all the weapons and a few extra bodys for devi squad as you will need 5 marines with bolters to play a 10 man devi squad anyway
if you are limited go lascannons and plasma cannons as you get 2 missile launchers with the tac squad and i dont see the need for heavy bolters much

blood angels 5000 pts
imperial guard 500 pts
orks 1000 pts
You can even use the extra set of legs you got from the command squad, to make an additional Heavy Weapon carrier. (usually the kneeling legs is good for a Lascannon or ML dev model.
Also, if you've got two Tactical squads, did they come with a Flamer and a Missle Launcher, as you could pass on making the ML from the Dev squad as you have two on the field. I took my devastator squad box and made all the heavy weapons from it on models where ever I could.
For a little extra cash,
Get the Assault on Black Reach set. You'll get 10 more SMs, a Dread, 5 more Terms, and another Captain. Easily trading or selling off the orks can have it end up only costing you $25, sell the extra Captain for another 3-4. Keeping in mind just the 5 terminators alone would cost you ~$50
Also for easy extra bits (bodies and such) Get a regular Assault Squad, it has a whole set of extra regular backpacks and bodies.

A small hi-jack my self here lol. Where can I get a right handed lighting Claw for a normal SM as I want to have a Chaptin with twin lighting claws
WIP SM Crimson Fists
If thats a captain... there are two metal veteran SM models, one that has dual claws and the other with just a right side claw. The arms from the double claw vet would probably be the best option.
If its a chaplain... not a legal configuration anymore.
Thanks for the info guys. I should have been more detailed... I bought the Black reach box, that's where the termies, captain and one tac squad come from. Oh yeah, so I have a dread too... forgot him.
I planned on running the two 10 man tacs with a flamer and a ML in each. So basically what I'm getting from everybody is skip the autocannons and mount the las and plas cannons however I can...
