im using this army at da moment i get slaughtered every time. ts grenadiers so i don want infantry platoons, hw platoons? please suggest tactics and additions to the army
heroic senior officer
master crafted power sword
deathwatch kill team
tactical dreadnought armor
8x storm troopers
9x storm troopers
6x storm troopers
9x hardened veterans
demolisher siege tank
plasma-cannon side sponsons
2x hunter killer missiles
top to bottom on your current list:
command squad: i'd drop the mastercraft on the pweapon, otherwise go with a powerfist for the same points but a plain pweapon should make due. add a standard bearer as well. the two guardsmen with the heavy weapon can't be upgraded to veterans. personnally, i'd go with 2 special weapons over a heavy weapon, but with the lack of other infantry heavy weapons it's fine as is.
deathwatch killteam: not sure where these guys are from, mainly as i don't think they're legal to use anymore (aside from house games).
grenadiers: as these are you scoring units and core of the army, i'd beef them all up to 10-man squads, make sure there's two special weapons in each (either plasma or melta imo, if you want flamers, than put them in special weapon squads from the command platoon), and give each sergeant a pweapon, they're cheap and come very handy when you get assaulted.
ratlings, from what i've heard, they're best when used in squads of 8-10.
veterans: again, boost them to 3 special weapons and the heavy weapon (plasma/melta and missile/lascannon) to take advantage of that bs4, as is the same with the above grenadiers.
demolisher: can drop all the non-weapon upgrades; imo change the heavy bolter to a lascannon. the improved comms is only needed if you plan on deep striking 4+ squads and as the grenadiers can't use deep strike/infiltrate, i don't see that happening.
expanding your list, i'd add a couple leman russes, some chimeras eventually too for your grenadiers (leave one squad on foot though) and maybe a hellhound and sentinels as well. all-grenadier lists tend to have to make up for their numbers with an a heavy armor solution.
cut the kill-team. that's such a points sink it's not even funny. use it to get more grenadiers and more vets. you look like you're playing 1500? give your grenadiers 2x melta or melta/plasma, then give your vets lasplas. alternately, take doctrine jungle fighters (not like you use lascannons anyways), and give your vets heavy flamers and 3 meltas. if you take 1 demolisher, it's going to go splody. take more, or don't take it. i'd say don't take it, and use the points to get more grenadiers.
i got the deathwatch from a white dwarf (no. 306) im gonna add more lascannons and obviously beef up da stormies. i cant take jungle fighters as this only applies to basic infantry squads you may think it odd that i have a random 6 man stormie squad but these are the old classic models and using the cadians ive got in the rest of the army to boost the numbers in this squad would look pretty odd.
