I'm just looking for some kind of melee support, or at very least kamikaze units to take out expensive targets and rough riders seem to fit that bill!
However, I don't really like the models. And I've heard of people modding Guard troopers onto bikes, which sounds quite cool.
However, is this allowed? As in the codex it clearly states that the Rough Riders are using the cavalry rules... but if they are on bikes.... do they still follow the cav rules? Or can they be changed to bike rules?
Yeah, it is perfectly legal, it dosen't change their rules and can't be confused with any other unit in the codex, just make sure your opponent is fully aware that they are Rough Riders and you will be fine.
Modelling them on the other hand can be difficult, there is a bit of information out there from people who have done it in various ways, I haven't yet seen any way of doing it that looked easy.
I think you need to spend more time on your floor.

When i get around with it, im about to do this project, any of you may join in or even take this idea and make a new conversation from it. I've noticed that the new Scout Bikers should be able to fit a perfectly fine Cadian Torso. So basically i'm going to make some Cadian Rough Riders from these Scout Bikers.

Here's a couple of idea attached. I would buy the Ravenwing box set (your cheapest way to get bikes I think and then get somesort of smaller wheel set for the front.
Regardless it can be done and good luck!!
