I just felt the need to post this here as I think it should be everyones favorite Land Raider variant. If you play SW like I do there is nothing better then unloading 12 Blood Claws, and either 1 or both flamestorm cannons into an enemy unit. If there is anything left (and a few times there hasnt been) the Claws mop up what did'nt meltdown.
For now I am the only one at our game store playing this variant and everyone thought I was foolish for taking off the Lascannons. Instead I feilded a Predator with trilple Lascannons to offset the loss of the big range hitting. With a Multi-Melta and TW Assault Cannon mounted on it as well it has not lost all ranged kick, but it is one of if not the most devastating vehicle up close. The Str on the Flamestorm Cannons is enough that you can glance and even penetrate vehicle armor in alot of cases with the things. As a result people will either focus fire there big guns on the Land Raider trying to stop it from getting to them and unleashing the fury, leaving my Predator free to pop shots at their hvy armor for a round or two. Or they will go for the Pred and my Redeemer usually gets to drop the Claws and play in their frontlines.
I know there will be opponents or army lists where the Crusader/Standard setup will be better, Tau or Eldar come to mind, but I suggest giving the Redeemer a shot if you havent already. Against hordes of Orkz or Nids or any of the Power Armored armies our there it will pay for itself and then some more often than not.

Just to let you know, you can't post specific rules on the forum so your comment about the weapon strength and its capabilities has to go, it's just a bit too specific
The only constant in the universe is change, adapt or die.
Thanks, made the edit.
Can space wolfs even use a redeemer as its not in the space wolf codex.
You mean someone actually let you fire both of the flame weapons? You have to remain still to do that - so the enemy has to run upto your LR, and be nearly touching it....
Which is proably why you won't see too many of them. Yes, the destruction potential is there, but it very hard to fire more than 1 weapon these days, plus you lose range on the flamer template, since you place the template on the sponsons.
It would be nice if you wanted to go aggressive though, since at the start of the game, you'd move the LR 12 inches anyway.I noticed that too, and i'd say that's a no. Though I no longer have the codex, pretty sure it's not actually an option for SWs at the moment. I'm tipping his opponent agreed to let him use it though? Can space wolfs even use a redeemer as its not in the space wolf codex.

Actually thanks to the Land Raider rule he can do that while stilling moving 6"You mean someone actually let you fire both of the flame weapons? You have to remain still to do that - so the enemy has to run upto your LR, and be nearly touching it....
First as far as wolves taking the Redemeer the faq says that they can take any variant of land raider
so there goes that question. I think what he's doing is running up on the unit firing one weapon for moving six inches and using power of the machine spirit to fire the other

The Space Wolves can't use LR Redeemer nor Crusader. Blame it on their older 3rd ed. codex. However, they can take the Leman Russ Exterminator, one of the finest horde killers of all time. Best of all, the whole army can deploy via drop pods at no additional cost and with no chance for mishaps (though they could land off the board).
But I guess if the opponent doesn't say no, it's alright to use the Redeemer.
@ dude5767: You can't post a great lump of text taken straight from any Codex, FAQ, or whathaveyou. Copyright and all that stuff.
And I *think*, looking the FAQ, here that the 'Wolves can use both Redeemers and Crusaders, going by saying the puppies can use "all variants" when referring to a list of vehicles including the Land Raider.
To back this up (a little) in the Miniatures hall at GWHQ, if I remember correctly, the Space Wolves force includes a Crusader... although, that's hardly a clinching argument.
FABRICATI DIEM, PVNC
Ah, I didn't think of the FAQ - nice one there. I does indeed allow the use of Redeemers.
I also forgot about the Power of the Machine Spirit. Alas, I play Chaos. Quite the interesting choice now that mentioned. I'd probably still prefer one of the other 2 varients, as that mahcine spirits works wonders for them as well.
