well ive fough the same DE force 3 times now and for some strange reason <_< lost every time, to see my force go to:
the DE force includes, wyches, the character in the raider (cant remember the name) 2 units of warriors (darklances included) and some more raiders and the such (or and also a talos)
anyone got any hints on standing a chance of beating them?, so far the wyches manage to kill roughly 1/2 my army before ive killed them all......
I play both the DE and IG, and a person that knows how to play the DE, can be a real handful.
These are just some suggestions you might want to try.
With that many Dark Lances it is suicide to bring the leman russ, they negate its heavy armor and it wont last long at all. And unless you are playing on a large board, i wouldnt bring the big Arty either. Instead i would bring a mortar squad(3), they have decent range, are blast and have a better chance of something hitting each turn. Instead of the tank, bring a couple more sentinels, equipped with autocannons, and dont forget about their special rules, they get a free move after deployment.
I would bring some more stormtroopers and infiltrate them(if the scenario allows).
Equip each of your shock troops with flamers, they will make a mess of warriors who get close.
I cant tell what your heavy weapons teams are equipped with, looks like autocannons, which are a decent choice against the DE. Bring either those or Heavy bolters. You need lots of shots to take out the DE warrior squads.
Yeah the Witches sux. Just mass as much fire on them and they will go away.
DE are tough to play agianst with IG, cause they are fast and will get in close real quick. Try and keep your squads spread out, but able to cover each other.

well ur army is still small tho your should really put some heavy weapons into your squads, but a demolisher is very good. lascannons work good on raiders, u dont seem to have many lascannons. and i think your talking Asdrubael Vect? a well placed lascannon shot would turn that thing into a pile of smoldering metal. Now about those wyches....they're a pain in the arse. cc with them is suicide but if they happen to charge at you make sure your stormies touch them first! dont deep strike them, keep em on your front, buy another box and have them make a wall kinda so by the time they get through they (should) be chewed up buy the time they get through. so buy lascannons!

Glad you said that about the stormies, i totally forgot about that. Definetly want to use your stormies as a screen line, to slow down the witches and the warriors. Plus gives you a buffer to allow your troops and heavy weapons to whittle em down. Storm troopers are made to take a beating so let em, they survive a lot better then shock troops. If you can infiltrate them into a good position you can keep the DE from closing to soon. Just watch out for the Raiders, they can blow by em, and if they equipp em with Slave Snares they will get some free hits on you if they fly over your squad.

i know, i cant believe i forgot that either. But this isnt the post you are lookin for urdrakas,,just keep bringing that big ol tank out there for my boyz to blow up,,,come on they like having the big juicy targets to shoot at.

DE are dangerous for IG. between the DL taking out our armor, and the splintercannon taking out our men (god i hate that thing!, sometimes it feels like the emperor has abandoned us however, we do have hope.
first off, imo, anything with AV > 12 should not be taken. Chimeras and Hellhounds are our friends (inferno cannon ) i've had incredible success with multilaser sentienels as well.
first rule against DE is to get first turn!! this is usually chance, but if you can, take creed/kell or emperor's tarot.
if you don't get first turn, make sure you're over 36" away from him. this can be done by placing one unit as far forword as possible when deploying and then everything else farther back.
second rule is to KILL THE RAIDERS!! this one is obvious. if your opponent is not bright, then he's started the game w/ his men *inside* his transports, if this is the case, blow those things up and hopefully he'll loose half his squad in the process... a smart player will start the match w/ his units outside the tranport and out of LOS.
as for the actually killing of the transports. i find that misslelaunchers and lascannons are not that good (they work better against Talos). the best weapons for poping raiders are Autocannons and Multilasers. w/ the raiders AV10, you'll need at most a 4+ to hurt the thing. and since it's an opened topped fast skimmer, a glancing 4+ will effectivly take the thing out. that means your multilasers are *perfect* for those little guys. i once had a game where 3 of my sentienels took out all 3 DE Raiders on the first turn!
a few things to remember about DE.
they have BS 4! don't forget this. alot of people underestimate the DE warrior (which imo is one of the best troops in the game). these guys are nasty. for 8 points you get WS/BS of 4, Fleet of foot, int 5, Ld 8. i mean these guys are a DEAL! their splinter cannons are assult 4 ! Str4 ap5 and they can have 2 in a squad!! they'll eat your guys alive!
the talos scatter laser is nasty. it hits the closest targets and will kill the individual model! so don't have your Sargents/heavywpns/specialwns near the front of the unit. and the Talos has Toughness of 7, so lasguns and guardsmen in H2H can't hurt it, shoot it w/ your anti tank weapons.
don't forget to bring indirect. w/ their fleet o' foot. DE are very good at darting from cover to cover until they're within' striking distance. a few mortars and a bassie will be able to put the hurt on them even when your heavybolters can't.

well thx for the hlp, i hadnt tried deep striking my carskin before because i somewhat doubted they would survive long if i did, blowing up all of the raiders is easyer said then done as for quite a bit of the time i have nothing to fire at as they are all hiding behind something.... also yes they are autocannons not lascannons
last time a fought the DE i managed to kill Asdrubael Vect in the 2nd turn with a lucky scattered earthshaker shot
(just remembered he has a large amount of mandrakes but i just havent seen them yet...)
Aren't most DE armor saves 4+? I don't know much about the DE, but I would take a heavy bolter support squad or two and blast the crap out of his troops. Make sure the squads have the sharpshooter doctrine and you should mow down quite a few of them.

Actually most DE saves are 5+ (warriors). Wyches are 6 to shooting but 4+ inv in cc. The Lord can get a 2+ inv but only one can be taken. My favorite tactic against the IG is to place my 2 Ravagers and Talos in the center, FA and a DL squad on one side and Raider squads on the other edge. I'll let the HS be a first round juicy target for the first turn, charge the flanks and be in HtH with most everything else by turn two. I can usually bring more targets than the IG can kill the first turn.
