    Typical Troop amount for 1500pts.

Hey was wondering what most guys were runnning with a 1500 pt. Army. I currently am running 2 platoons of 25 guys. Is this too little? should i have more troops?

For 1500 battle i try to run what i consider a whole comany, 75-200 men. For me a company is usually 2 Platoons with 45 men each. so 90 Men.

that works out at 280point per platoon with no upgrades. Normally with command squad and weapon upgrades 350 odd points per platoon, so about 700 spent on troops. I think this is more than most people but i find it works with how i play. If i need spare point i loose a squad in each platoon. freeing up another 120-140 points for a tank or what ever i need.

Id say minimum you need 60-70 guardmens on the table to have units that can hold objectives etc. Personally the more men i can load in there the better. I like the idea of whole companies of men going into battle and rarely like to field only part of a company.

Minimum 70, when i run vehicle heavy (hell hounds and russ/demo's) with a walker thrown in.
that's command, 5 man vets, two infantry squads with command, 2 squads and a five man remnant (twice) (Oh, and a GK brother captain)

If i go infantry heavy i have about 120, and 3 AV14 vehicles OR 2-3 basalisks, and some of the infantry are expensive (E.G. Last chancers sometimes, 15-20 grenadiers (3 squads), maybe a Inq & assassain, Maybe GK terminators, maybe Creed & Kell, occasionally 3 squads of hardened vets / comissars / heavy weapon squads etc.)

I a 800 point game I feild 45 guardmen. In a 1500 point game I feild nearly 85 Guards. But in my local store the tables are too small to hold my army.Especialy when you add 3 tanks,Stormtroopers, ratlings and a tecpreist.

I tend to run with two 25 man platoons, plus a command section (with priest and psyker too) with two fire support or anti tank squads at 1500pts (the rest of the points being taken up with a full squad of lancing roughriders, 2 hellhounds and 2 russes)
I have too many armies to list in my signature!

I do a 1500pt Light Infantry force, with all squads toting Light Infantry, and I come in at around 120-125 men.

if I drop Light Infantry, I can easily be 130-135 men.

it's a lot of bodies, and no tanks.

lemme think, about 100+ men minimum, so 4 platoons of 25 men, or 2 of 55 depending, thats not including the heavy weapon teams, HQ, ratlings etc etc
