I head a rumour a while back that the SM Codex was going to get a rethink like the IG Codex did.
I was going to start a 500 point army, the list is there somewhere, but now i think i will wait a while for the new rulebook and codex.
I was just wandering what u guys thought might change or appear in the revamped codex.
PS: Not sure on this just a rumour

When I say jump you don't ask me 'How high?' maggot! You jump!
Skip the 'strength/weaknesses', 'tactics' and 'special character' section. The rest is just updated rules (termie armour, command squad, points). It will be pretty much the same IF updated. I like the new layout in the codexes however...
It's not "if", it's "when". The new codex is coming, I've heard too many rumors for that to be wrong. The Old codex is also the oldest of the current ones, it's about time it got updated and 4th edition is the perfect excuse to do it.
If you want to start a new army then go for it. It's extremely unlikely that it will be unsusable as long as you don't do anything too extreme. You might want to wait with an all scout army for example.
from what I heard, the new codex comes out at the begining of next year. If you want to start gathering some marines, then you should. I dont think they will change that much. Dont let your new army hinge on just one or two things 'cuase you never know what will change.
A fool and his shoe are soon parted.
Doctrines, I know they will be included but how, I don't know? I doubt you will get 5 choices and so many units will be restricted like for IG. You probably get 1 or 2 choices, but they have big effects.
Well, on the GW forums, an Admin said that going for chapters with special rules ain't going to be the only way to get non-vanilla marines now, so I expect Doctrines.
I now have honest to god proof of what's going to be within it because I have actually seen it. And the guy who showed it to me may or may not be fired because of it.
First off, it's slated for release in mid september.
Second, Yes. It does have Doctrines. But I'm fairly sure you're still allowed to use the old rules like the ones in Codex:Armageddon to play your army. It should be backwards compatible with the expansions.
That, or it might include the "minor" chapter changes. I couldn't look at it long (Just long enough for sweet sweet doctrines) and the hurried explanation wasn't clear.
If a tree falls in the forest, and it lands on a mime, does anyone care?
I hope Space Marines get a doctrine system like the Imperial Guard did so players can make custom SMurfs lists.

the new codex is coming and will use a strem lay out on how you pick "chapter traits" they good thing is you can pick wut weakness you chapter faces insted of getin stuck with some that come with the traits making chapters almost completly difrent every time.
Sounds good but will it have just a few suggestions for the chapters or will it really focus on them. I would like to see much more material on the Black Templar then is found in the Armageddon codex
