Just was wondering about there history, play style, weapon focus, special char's etc etc
Here's a comparison on DA to Vanilla marines:
"If you like scoring terminators this is your army. If scoring terminators isn't your core plan, don't. That's all Dark Angels are good for now."
For other posts on Dark Angels just route around this board - Deathwing would be a good search.
Seriously, If you aren't using deathwing as the core of your army, don't do DA.
For a non-vanilla SM army Black Templars is hot, but there's no reason not to use standard marines, they're good and far more competitive. they can be tailored as rerquired and you can put robed vets in there if you want.

The Dark Angels used to be very shooty, with Stubborn and lots of Plasma. That changed with the release of their current Codex.
Now, their playstyle is a lot more flexible, but the loss of a lot of what they used to have has made lots of the older DA players upset to the point of playing Vanilla Marines with dark green Power Armor and robes.
The Deathwing-Ravenwing lists are very popular among DA players currently and some will state that it's the only list that is the slightest bit competitive.
To save yourself a little frustration in the short term, I would be inclined to recommend going the "Vanilla Marines with dark green Power Armor and robes" route.
WHFB: Dwarfs || WH40k: Imperial Fists, Necrons || WM/H: Trollbloods || BFG: Necrons
Yeah the simple answer is don't, unless you want deathwing, i was thinking of doing a DA list with ravenwing in support, then realised that the new codex dealt them a nasty blow, now my plans are to utilise the models (raven wing bikes also happen to be one of the cheapest ways to get bikes) and build a Angels of Fury List, pleanty of bikes, DA upgrade packs and ravenwing battleforces.
all in all if you love the models - do your own chapter.... just use the models anyway
if you love the fluff - play a 'DA' (in name) list, BUT use codex point values wargear etc. However i wouldn't use any of the DA specific characters/special rules. You could however use existing characters but change the names e.g. Belial could use lysander rules, sammeal uses Khan rules, ezekiel uses tigurius rules. I can't think of one for Azreal, calgar was my first choice but not a brilliant match up IMHO... (all this assuming you opponent agrees.... and you say this bloke = these stats)
Hope this helps

I am currently painting up Dark Angels and Ravenwing. I am going to play them as Codex Marines. I own the DA codex and I don't like it. I also happened to pick up really cheaply 75 terminators, so eventually I WILL play some Deathwing...!!
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
Thnx guys, might just buy the models and make em what i want... i mean... marines in robes, how COOL!
