I going to use Sternguard Vets in my army, so I wanted to know which round is most effective against who. So I got my calculator and started looking into it. Yes, I am aware that this is kind of geekish, but I couldn't care less. Anyway, the green cells are the ones that are theoratically "the better option". It is based on a 10 man strong squad firing a single shot, with pros and cons (like range, the sort of save or "Gets Hot!") included in the verdict.
Enjoy, destroy... I don't care which. Cheers
Well, With Lysander that unit can re roll all bolter shots, even the gets hot ones.
If a Million Guardsmen die, that's a statistic. If one marine dies, that's a tragedy.
Nice info to have, now all I need is some Sternguard. One question though, and I'm not sure If I am reading this right. Does this say Hellfire Bolts should kill almost 2 marines while Vengance should only kill just over 1?
Well, you either wound 5/6 of the time and give them the armor save, or you wound them half the time and deny them the armor save (Although they might get cover). Against terminators I will almost always use Hell-fire rounds though, they're the most effective (Seeing as how all the rounds give them armor saves, may as well take the one that wounds better)
Space Marines: W15/L7/D3
Imperial Guard: W6/L4/D0
i've had games where i fire the vengeance rounds and lose as many models as a i kill...the gets hot rule hates me i fear.
i tend to just find myself firing the hellfire round more than anything, but yeah its nice info to have thanks
Never judge someone until you've walked a mile in their shoes...by that time they'll be a mile away, and have no shoes
