Played a quick game this morning with a friend as i wanted to see just how good decking out is plasma actually is with so many people having these cheese debates. It was a 750 point games, my IG vs his SMurfs.
I had 2x 5man vets with 3 plasma each, command squads decked out with plasma's aswel as my line squads. so around 15 plasma's
Turn 1, due to the small table and him moving his army closer previously i got to fire all but 4 of my plasma's. Things did not go well. 11 Fired, 8 overheated, 7 guardsmen died 1 saved. 2 Missed 1 hit but failed to wound.
Turn 2, i lost another to overheating.
Turn 3, 2 of them got killed.
Turn 4, Last one over heated.
Game ended a draw thanks to some lucky lasgun fire. I know the plasma was poorly placed but i needed to cram as much as possible in.
Back to those grenade launchers for me i recon. I just wondered of any1 else has suffered horrific defeats due sacrificing guardsmen to One the dice godess of plasma.
Pretty bad rolling there. Pretty bad rolling.
Check : 216 over 362,797,056 yep.
216 = 6x6x6x1 (x1 eight times = same, in any order.) The dice combinations from 11 d6 = (6, times 6 ten recuring times. correct. - double check, 2d6 have 36 combinations, 3d6 have 216, four 1296, five 7776 etc, it appears to be right. Hmm i'll muse over that - it can't be.)

If he rapid fired them its 8 out of 22, which is much more likely
its called plain bad luck . Happens suprisingly often, difference is no1 notices when u roll lotsa of 4-6's cus its gooooood. Stnds out when its bad . I just hope the 1 streak continues when i face termies
I have to say though, probability is good and all, but I don't think any 40kers can deny that once you get on a streak of bad luck, it's sometimes impossible to pull out of it.
Maybe 40k is just warping my mind into that of a deranged gambler, but knocking on wood, thinking the right thoughts while rolling, choosing the lucky dice for the right situation, and other such superstitious ceremonies help me to avoid streaks of bad luck. Most of the time.... hopefully I didn't just jynx my whole situation....
Tyranids: 2500 pts
Imperial Guard: 1000 pts
Witch Hunters: 1000 pts
I've never had it happen with my guard, but it's happened with my CSM chosen squad before.
Best guard moment I've had would be classified as a When Commisars Go Wrong. Playing an assasination mission and having my commisar exicute the model that needed to be protected :-/
Yes, I did deep-strike your sister...
Necrons : W-8 D-3 L-7 (Sleeping in their TombFoam, waiting for a new codex)

Apocalypse Games : W-4 D-0 L-1 (4 Titans, Brass Scorp, 3 Baneblades, 2 Bombers, 3 Fighters, and a Partrage in a Pear Tree)
Why not have meltaguns instead at the same price, I know they are not rapid fire but atleast they won't die!

Warmaster Demetrius, 733.M38.
I used to love haveing Plasma guns in my squads because then they all had rapid fire weapons and the range was the same. I didn't used to run heavy weapons in my squads.
Since my enemy don't need any help in wiping out my army I'm going to try meltaguns.
I did used to run a medic in a command squad with three plasmas - at least you could ignore one failed armour save then.
Finally getting round to finshing my Tallarn Imperial Guard Army (2K)
