I'm kind of curious about corax's history so if anyone could enlighten me that would be great. also why do you thing her went to the eye of terror? he was still loyal to the emporer right? i also saw that other primachs did that.
You can find the majority of the known fluff on Corax here.
To sum it up, Corax was found on the satellite moon Lycaeus, orbiting around the planet Kiavahr. He was found by the local slave population there, who were basically criminals and anyone who made the lords of Kiavahr unhappy, driven into work slavery.
Once Corax arrived, he grew very fast and absorbed as much information from the population as possible - tactics, organisation skills, leadership skills, combat skills - just about everything that the mix-matched population had to offer, he learned.
He then organised a revolt of the slaves, and they overthrew their cruel masters on Lycaeus. After the victory (even in the face of a retaliation by the lords of Kiavahr), the people named the moon Deliverance, and soon after that the Emperor arrived to take Corax away.
Little is known of Corax's feats during the Great Crusade or Heresy, except that he employed some drastic measures to boost the ranks of the Raven Guard after they were nearly wiped out at Istvaan V. Later, as you know, he left for the Eye of Terror, never to be heard from again.
He's a rather mysterious individual, after his upbringing, so a lot is open for discussion.
Let's not forget how he made the Emperor agree to a condition before he left with him, that Lycaeus would be looked after.
