Welcome to Librarium Online!
I'm going to be trying to build an army pretty soon. And I know for a fact that I will need to buy some bits to fill out the weapons in my army. The problem is I just don't know how many. If anyone would be as kind as to take some time and read my box list and tell me which weapons and how many of each you get in the box, i Would highly appreciate it.
1x Assault Squad Box
1x Tactical Marine Squad Box
1x Devastator Squad
1x Assault on Black Reach (I just want to make sure what weapons I can get out of this for Marines. But I think there aren't any choices for them except a Flamer and missile launcher)
Thank you in Advanced, I just nee the weapon contents of the box..
Another question... Is it possible for me to use Normal Space Marine Missile Launchers on Devastators or us Devastator Lascannons on normal Space Marines?
Again thank you all in advanced!
You're right -- Assault on Black Reach has a missile launcher and flamer, and they're molded onto the models, so you can't swap them out really, but on pretty much all the other models you refer to, the bodies are modular, so you can mix and match any weapons, including the devastators. In fact, I think the dev squad box comes with the same body/head/leg molds that the tactical squad comes with.
In addition, the tactical squad contains parts for an all-bolter squad OR a single flamer OR a single plasma gun OR a single missile launcher. The assault squad, it's worth noting, also has enough "regular" backpacks to replace the jump packs, if you want. The assault squad box also includes a power fist and a pair of plasma pistols. I'm not sure what else offhand. Too bad GW doesn't show box contents on its Web site like it used to. Grrr...
I was actually just planning on doing a simple conversion on the missile launcher space marine from AOBR, even though i'm pretty new to all this. I was just going to give him a las cannon. He is missing his right arm completely, and I was planning on cutting his left arm off at the elbow and cutting lascannon left arm off at the same place.
I was also going to be putting a plasma gun in the squad but I noticed that the Bolters on the AOBR sprue had bolters with hands attached. And all the Plasma gun bits I've seen only comes with the gun. How would I go about placing the plasma gun in an AOBR Marine?
And I don't have a razor saw or dremel so do you know of any "around the house" tools I could use?/
A simple hobby knife should be sufficient to chop through the plastic.
1 X Multi Melta
1 X Missile Launcher
2 X Heavy Bolter
2 X Plasma Cannon
2 X Las Cannon
Also comes with kneeling legs so you can make 6 marines rather than the advertised 5.
All guns from the set are interchangeable with standard tactical parts.
Trying to convert the AOBR marines to carry different weapons seems a bit daft to me when you can just assemble normal marines using those weapons with no trouble. All regular marine models (ie those that come in the tactical, devastator, assault, command squad boxes) are totally interchangable in terms of equipment, since they're using basically the same parts for the body.
Well, onto the box contents:
Tactical Squad Box:
Enough parts to make 10 marines with bolters. You also get:
1 flamer, 1 plasma gun, 1 meltagun, 1 missile launcher
2 chainsword arms, 2 bolt pistol arms, 2 plasma pistol arms
some sergeant heads and a few other bits and pieces like purity seals and a backpack banner
Assault Squad Box:
Enough parts to make 5 marines with bolt pistol & chainsword. You have the choice of 'regular' marine torso & backpack, or jump pack and the torso that goes with the jump pack
2 power weapons, 2 plasma pistols, a power fist, a storm/combat shield, and other sergenaty bits
Parts for 5 marines, including kneeling legs, so you get 6 pairs of legs,
2 Lascannons, 2 Plasma Cannons, 2 Heavy bolters, 1 Multi melta, 1 missile launcher,
'sergeant bitz' including a chainsword, power fist and other goodies.
The Assault on Black Reach box is different in that the models are mostly in just two of three pieces and they push together. Like I said , converting them to use different weapons would be time consuming, difficult and probably wouldn't look too good unless it was done well. I'd advise you just to assemble a regular marine model with the required weapon and put him in the squad. Now, you might have too few models to be able to spare two to become the AOBR tac squad's special & heavy weapon troopers. In this case, I'd consider buying the 5 marine combat squad box, and assemble them with various weapon options, as you'll have several weapons left over from the tactical squad box and the devastator box. This would let you have more options and allow you to change your squads weapon loadouts more easily.
Also, if you build the jump pack assault marines, you'll have 5 regular torsos and backpacks spare, and will have one set of legs spare from the devastator box, plus enough other leftover bitz in order to make a 'free' marine.
oh this is a big help. i actually wanted to field 2x5men squads of devastators arm with 8 las cannons in my super ranged army but was worried i have to buy 8 boxes of devastator squads to get 8 las cannons. haha now i just need to get only 4 boxes woot.
the only question i have since we are talking about the box sets is that does the terminator box set comes with the heavy flamer or any other box sets come with one?
I've never bought a terminator box, but I'm fairly sure it comes with a heavy flamer, an assault cannon and a cyclone missile launcher. You also get some chainfists, though I'm not sure how many.
Thanks a lot anclagon! After reading your post I did realise how stupid I was. I'll jsut wait til I get my Tac Squad box. It'll have 10 marines.. I'll just build 3 of them for las cannons and 3 for plasma guns and spread them out then consolidate. ...I jsut thought about it.. I'm going to have to buy a 3x Marine push-fit kit to replace the one rocket marine in the AOBR kit.
And what do you think about using the AOBR missile launcher on a Devastator? Would this be a difficult conversion?

awesome, thanks for the quick reply. ^^
@Pandaking - Making the AOBR ML Marine a Devastator isn't difficult at all. All that would be needed it to cut or file down the uparrow on the right shoulder pad.
@kazukun - I wouldn't buy 4 boxes of devastators. Buy the one box you wanted. And check out ebay, Battlewagonbits, BitzBox. (search google WH40k bits, you'll find a ton of sites) and just buy the extra lascannons, it will save you alot of money. With the amount of *heavy* weapons guys you seem to want, then maybe even another Tactical box, or smaller 5man combat squad box. But the price difference on those two is so negligible its probably best to get the full Tactical squad.
