i haven't got around to getting the new Dex but i am hearing that powerfist work like lightning claws now by only getting the 2nd attack if there is another fist.
That is right, the only difference is every powerfist/lightning claw will get two attacks base, and three on a charge.
The only way to get the off hand is to have two powerfists.
oh so an assault sergeant is better of with a storm sheild than a bolt pistol for cc purposes
well he can't take a storm shield for the 4+ invulnerable in CC, but he can take a combat shield for a 5+ and it's only for him in close combat. it might make sure he can get his attacks back, but if you have a big enough squad and you do wound placement right I doubt you'd need the invulnerable but you can always do it and find out how it works for you
i might just give him the bolt pistol for some pre assault ranged damage anyways
Old codex, those inv. saves were only in close combat, in the new codex Storm Shields give inv. save of 3+ and combat shields only give 6+ but they both work against shooting now.
The sergeant of an assault marine squad *can* take a Storm Shield, but the cost is almost as much as a member of the squad and I'd rather have a bolt pistol/plasma pistol in that hand to fire before charging. I suppose in drawn out battles the Storm Shield could be cool tho if you have the points for it depending on what you have your assault marines hunt.
