I have played various games thru the years, one of my favorite being classic battletech. One of my favorite things about this game was the amount of fluff there were on units in the game. They would always have sourcebooks that listed all the regiments for one of the great houses, clans, mercenaries etc and gave some back ground history on the units and how they were made up. Some were more detailed then others but it was cool reading.
There seems to be a serious lack of this type of fluff in WH40k, or i just havent found it. I mean i know the imperium is vast, and there are thousands and thousands of regiments, chapters fleets etc. and when you think about it for all the different armies this could be quite a task to compile.
I mean focus on the main units, ex. The Cadian Sourcebook, list the major characters, and regiments of the Cadian forces, and a brief history on them and the caimpaigns. Or a sourcebook on the various chapters of the space marines, or the orks. etc.
maybee they have somethin like this out somewhere, and i just havent heard about it yet.
just bored at work and my mind was wandering.
Bad idea. Because we'd have to pay GW another gazillion dollars. For something like this:The Cadians come from the planet Caida. They guard the Eye o Terror, a giant maelstorm of the demonic warp. Their favored heavy weapon is the autocanon because it kills chaos hordes like no tomorrow. That is why the cadians r cool. <insert latin mumbo jumbo here>

Well, not really... if you take a look either at old issues of the White Dwarf or Chapter Approved you'll loads of information about the various Chapters and Imperial Guard regiments....
On another hand you can always look for it on the net.... good hunting..

Get your sig from-tHe BaD GuY
in the old wargear/general codex/rule books it gave a much more detailed insight into.....well everything but for some reason theyre not doing that any more
I liked how in the Eye of Terror codex, it listed the forces fighting from both sides. It was cool just seeing the army lists and seeing part of the big picture. I love military history so this is just somethin i like to see in these games.
Cool ill try and find some stuff on the web. Or check out some of those Wd.
I don't mind spending money on somethin thats worth it. I would rather spend money on a good book with good stuff on it then, an ok book wanting a lot more.
thanks for the suggestions
