I was wonderin that if you make a chapter and u take the rules from one of the codex chapters like space wolves or such do they have to be a succesor chapter of it? Because I was thinking of making a ultramarins succesor chapter but use space wolf rules.
why do that when you can just play space wolves? is it a fluff thing?
A fool and his shoe are soon parted.
it wouldn't make much sence..an Ultramarines succesor chapter would strive to be as much like the Ultramarines as they could.Fluff wise it just doesn't make sence for a UM chapter to want to be like the Space Wolves..maybe you can compramise, make an alcoholic UM chapter.."The Sons of Cirrhosis" or something like that
Well the only thing they share with spacewolves is their somewhat unorthodox chapter organization. Im trying to make fluff for it so they arent drunk barbarians. Its sort of like the mortifactors. Trying to make the chapter a balance between barbarians and civilization. I think their symbol will probably be a dog to show the balance between civilization and nature.
Use standard SM models, rename everything to be less wolf-like, use all the SW rules, and create whatever fluff you like, I guess. As long as the rules are 100% official, you can do whatever you like.
If you want to wait a while on this army, the new SM codex offers a cool chapter-creation system that might be exactly what you'd like.
Drunken Ultramarines... What would Roboute say!?
Anyway, Ultramarine successors are usually very strict about following the codex. If you want to base them on Space Wolves rules then you'd better have a good reason!
Maybe they've been isolated for a long time, more than a few thousand years. Or maybe they suffered catastrophic losses and were forced to reorganize in the field and kept the new organization afterward.
I think you have to come up with something like that, otherwise it will just look like you don't like SW but want special rules anyway. And that's just lame.
arent the mortifactors and ultamarine successor, and they are about as opposite of the rigid ultras as you can get. I know they all came from the same primarch.
It could be a good mix, ultramarines rigid and hidebound honor, space wolves agressiveness and close combat abilities, maybee they are just the rowdy little brothers............
Do the spacewolves actually have any successor chapters? Because I have heard that they dont and the wolf brothers got disbanded because of genetic deviancy.
The Mortifactors are a good choice... They are Ultramarines successors but instead of being all spick and span and Roman'ish they are dark and sinister and have lotsa bones and skulls all over... they are about as far from the Codex Astartes as you would think an Ultramarines successor chapter would be...
Read 'Warriors of Ultramar'... The Mortifactors appear in this story and fight alongside the Ultramarines... and they have their little intrigues...
If I am trying to rename items like making wolf pelts into some sort of necklace or something or changing the belt of russ into an iron halo to get rid of the wolf themed army, and I model them accordinly, is it still torunament legal?
