hey does anyone know if i will have to radically change my army upon the release of the new codex?
Doctrines- Close Ordered Drill, Veterans, Ratlings, Sharpshooters, Light Infantry
Senior Officer w/ bolt pistol, power weapon, bionics
2x Guardsmen- mortar
2x anti tank w/sharpshooters- 3x missile, 3x lascannon
2x fire support w/sharpshooters- 6x autocannons
Mortar team- 3x mortars
10x veterans w/ 3x meltas
10x veterans w/ 3x plasma
Infantry Command- light infantry
Junior Officer w/ bionics
2x Guardsman- nade launchers
3x guardsmen squads w/ light infantry- 3x veteran sarges w/bolt pistols, 3x nade launchers, and 3x sniper rifles
1x Earthshaker Cannon w/ extra crew
Demolisher w/ lascannon, plasma cannons, extra armor, tread guards, smoke launchers
i worked hard to get this army together and im just concerned that i wont be able to use it when the new rules are released....yes the earthshaker cannon is using the forge world rules.....
From the looks of it the only thing that will be "gone" are doctrines.
They will possibly be upgrades or abilities on certain characters.
But as far as the models go, they will 99.99% be usable in the new dex as well
extra crew on the earthshaker? that would be the immobile emplacement then? not the tank?
have you had a look at the leaked summary sheet btw?
yah it is a emplacement from forge world. will vets be outclassed by the new storm troopers in the dex?
well, their statlines are identical, except for the stormies having a better save than the veterans (rumored to be 4+)
But the rumors also say that the stormtrooper hellgun will be an ap3 weapon.
The rumors also say that the stormies have the option to take the valk as a transport.
But I am hoping that veterans and stormies will fill seperate roles on the battlefield. In the current codex there is little point in taking stormies over vets (unless you play grenadiers with doctrines). In the new dex, I'm hoping that it will be a though choice .
We can only hope for more leaks as May 2nd draws closer, to fill out the larger gaps in the rumors
EDIT : Oh, also, the forgeworld emplacement, can it pivot? since it is immobile, the rules say that it cant pivot on the spot, but does the cannon count as a turret?
I can see it having trouble targetting things outside its 45' arc of fire if it cant move/turn
***Any stats above are from the current rumors running around. So you never know, some of them may be typos.***
I presume the loss of doctrines will mean the guardsman in the squads with sniper rifles will have to go, but I assume there will be some sort of guard sniper/special weapon team option that you can move them to sot you can still have the models.
i heard a rumor that vets wont be a individual unit and will be a addition to the infantry platoons...is that confirmed?
well there still will be special weapon teams right? cause i will just turn the snipers into special weapon teams and then reorganize my platoons and add the veterans to them. Im just trying to keep a trench warfare like theme for my army and am curious of what they will add next. so what's coming out that i could add to keep the theme? the collossus? whatever that is....
No one knows what's going to happen and it's certain that armies will be organised a bit differently, but nothing crazy is going to change.
You're not going to have to go out and buy all new models because Guardmen all have two heads in the new dex or use bolters or ride falcons or anything like that.
What is likely to change is that your army will probably be worth quite a few less points, especially things like infantry armed with missile launchers and auto-cannons. So you may be looking at getting extra guys to make up the same sized army. The other thing is that some squads are likely to get shifted around and resized. I've heard that 6 man gun squads may be out and everything will be 10 man (maybe even command) so you may need to fill out the extra bodies.
Change does mean change though, so if you're asking will you be able to use the exact same army without re-writing your list and recalculating the points, then no.
It's not personal, I'm just like that.
well thats good
im just worried that i took a big stab at my finances by buying guard stuff while the new dex is coming out....hope i didnt
