Do folks play one set list game in game out or do you vary your list each game depending on opponent and to try stuff out?
Me I tend to vary mine a bit, although I am finding some units, sentinels, leman russ, lascannons with sharpshooters, and flamers to be pretty indispensable.
I play one list but thats pretty much because thats all I have had time to gather. Just finished painting my 570 point list one week ago. It won't take long tho that I'll have something to pick from. I haven't glued the heavy weapons to bipod so I might change those from time to time. Once I get my basilisk done it will probably be played out like 20% of games or something.
I rarely tune for a specific opponent but right now I've hit a pretty solid list for all comers.
But that is also because I'm no longer painting any more models until the new Codex comes out.
I was thinking of using the Cadian regiment plan out of the Apocolypse book as a template. It probably wouldn't be any use games wise but it would give some structure to a collection, a company of infantry would be a nice time to say stop I feel.
Yeah, but then you end up with a pile of stuff you don't use.
I generally over-buy on stuff like heavy weapons and specials. That way I have the stuff around to be able to mix and match.
Then again, I also have 3 2 fully painted armies of over 120 men and another smaller one. But I have collector's disease.
