planning on makeing chaos guard army, but dunno much about guardsmen really. Was wondering what a regular guardsmen was like pointwise and a leman.
Hullo there Zacht.
Sorry we can't help you, it's not customary to give out rules and points costs and it's again forum rules too.
I'd advise getting a codex, or waiting for the new IG codex and then basing your army on what you find in there.
That said, i'm going to leave this thread open so the rest of the community and can help you with ideas on the many solutions of how to do Traitor Guard. Although I imagine it will probably involve Blood Pact and Imperial Armour Vraks.
Either way, please don't ask for rules on LO. Cheers,

As far as renegade guardsmen, I'd try to go with either a straight guard army that looks all "chaos-y" or do renegades with attached Chaos Spacemarines or Daemons.
Model-wise, you can do a Blood Pact army, which is simply a stormtrooper army, Vraksian traitors, which are on sale at forgeworld.co.uk, and I believe that GW previously released some "Lost and the Damned" traitors for the Eye of Terror campaign, but I couldn't find them on the website. Also, there's always the avenue of using regular guardsmen models and converting and painting them to look chaotic.
Whatever you do, renegade guard can be a really cool army and I hope you're succesful with it.
traitor guard are a choice that pops up here and there fairly often. First of blood pact arent stormtroopers. I hate the way the GW website made that false image they are just fairly good at what they do so doctrines like veterans and the sharpshooters doctrine may work.
The easiest way is to get a guard army and, as has been pointed out, chaos it up. simply spikes on helmets and shoulders pads scraping off all imperial insignia, making a rag tag feel force is always good. perhaps look into necromunda weapons sprues to give variety to the squads.
Blood pact gang pictures by Commisarlestat - Photobucket have a look at my photos here for an idea of bloodpact troops. these guys were actually my necromunda gang but were also supposed to eb the start fo a blood pact army which I may well finish one day! after the next guants ghosts novel comes out.....
Hope that helps
forum rules kinda suck then, if i walk into a gamesworkshop they and ask points on something its like oh its blah blah, or they go check the book on the shelf for point ideas.
Anyways im planning on doing a force of just all guardsmen with maybe one troop of marines. Army will mainly be for apocalypse, but i figure i could use parts of it for regular battles. Plan is a army where all guys are in transports to get them around quickly and have some heavy tanks as support. (need to test the idea because transports might end up to expensive in points and screw the armies effectiveness. ) Basically i want the army to be supportive of my black legion army.i have a couple friends with no money to play and figure in apoc they can use wichever army i dont want at the time and wichever is of us is guard helps support the marines.
You could get the eye of terror book cause it has special rules for traitor guards.I've only seen the book once and that was last year in a indapendant retailer in a small cantre in the middle of Ireland.
Your most competitive option would be the Imperial Guard codex and converting.
"Thank him who puts me loath to this revenge on you who wrong me not for him who wrongd"
Interesting, I’m currently making a few test pieces for a Blood Pact army for when the new codex comes out. FW do make some great conversion packs for the standard Cadians, but that would be really an expensive route, I would use them only for specialist troops. For standard troops, mix and match. Chaos Warrior helmets would make great alternatives to the Cadian helmets, or use both as I am. Another good idea is to use heads from the Empire Flagellant range, sown up mouths, weird metal head pieces, look quite warped enough for Chaos renegades.
GW are free to do what they like with their IP. We are not
Somethings are a hassle, sure, but there's nothing too bad if you think about it.
Good luck with your renegades.
yeh more i look at forgeworld and gamesworkshop more i think that this army is going to be expensivebecause i wont like it enough without lots forgeworld bits in it. Really likeing some of the turrets forgeworld builds.
