I think that tua is better then impearalguard but the space marines are3 the best because they always can kill anything in there path. I played yesterday and my men dropped liked flies and my sentenal was so crap it killed apsulotly nothing and blew up killing my men.
punctuation and spellchecking, please!
aside from that, I dont think that any army is better than another. Granted, some armies work better against some than others, but not in a way, that I would call them "the best".
Your opponent might just have been extremely lucky with his rolls, or you might have been unlucky. It might also be something with your armylist. Why dont you post it in the armylist section here in the Imperial Guard Forum, and the veterans will point out what will work good, and what they would change.
Please speak some proper english.
So you got wooped once by a SM player, I wouldn't care I'd dealt with SM dozens of times and everytime I see them fail cause of the same points.
The IG is certainly not week and in about 6 weeks it'll be even stronger you'll have your brandnew SM spanking codex with all of it's options and if the rumours are correct SM will have a reason to fear guard.

I'm not sure where to start in pointing out what is wrong with this post.

Ya just post your list in the army list section and we'll tell you how to improve it. On a sidenote my lat five games with guard have been victories, 2 of them against marines in another I completely wiped out an ork army.
My point is the guard aren't bad you just need to get good fire lines, use and deny cover, and advance at the right time. We don't have great stats but our many units give us redundancy.

Never seen a troll this obvious.
like no one could have done that and changed the thread to something more than just replying "troll!". even though like all other threads, there's at least 2 other current threads about almost the same thing (ref. 'what IG army is your favorite' threads).
now, for the original poster: imo, tau and imperial guard are about even tau are a bit point-expensive per unit while guard have trouble with the current mission objectives, due to lack of mobility and killpoints. and both are equally bad in assault vs most any other army.
as for space marines, they're actually one of the more balanced armies out there... until you come across people utilizing their special characters or drop pods in certain ways, not going into describing those.
as for imperial guard, expect your men to drop like flies, they really don't have any survivability but you have like 150 of them so it's fine just focus on the bigger picture, now losing a squad... that can kinda matter. and sentinels, they're meant to harass on the flanks and tie up weak units in melee, otherwise they're weak armor plus open-top equals them dead before you know it.
keep your guys in cover and your sentinels as out of the way as possible (utilizing their range and mobility), and you should do fine until the new codex comes out, though i'm sure the guidelines will still remain the same.
edit: ...also, don't fret if you're losing a lot, you aren't the only one out there.
my two cents.
Guardman please change to SMURFs, then wen we get the new codex we can laugh about how we kick SMURFs so bad that every veternan IG player complain that is almost to ease with the new hellguns and sentinels with plasma cannons.
