    Noob question about IG deployment

So I'm new with IG and 40k and was just wondering how am I supposed to deploy infantry platoons. Squads and HQ as one or each squad separately? I'm a bit confused about this and if you could be so kind as to refer to a page in codex / brb.

One player deploys his whole army then the other deploys in 5th edition. In 4th it was different. If however you're wondering about dawn of war deployment you deploy SQUADS so in each platoon there are a certain number of squads and you will deploy your squads not platoons.

Please note: 1 platoon is made up of every squads and occupies 1 troop slot. I believe the correct method is you deploy your entire platoon, as in effect, 1 platoon IS 1 squad, its just broken up. Anticipate this to be clarified with the new codex, you can look at the FAQ to double check if its addressed.

    Page 44, Codex Imperial Guard.

I interpreted Dawn of War as 1 HQ choice, two troop choices. Which would give me the entire platoon, since they're counted as one unit when deploying or rolling for reserves. As far as where you put them when deploying, you can put each individual squad anywhere legal

It does say they are a single choice for the purpose of deploying.

I say troop platoons are 1 Troop choice so the whole platoon can deploy, not just a squad.

similar wording for command platoon so I would say they are 1 hq choice, so whole platoon can be deployed.
