The case in question is the WH Inquisitor Lord, for my crusader holy inquisition (WH + DH) army I really want to use the WH Crusader (Henchmen) for obvious coolness reasons.
The problem is the Inquisitor Lord looks like some Space Western Steam-Punk villain with a pilgrim hat !@!@! Completely out of character with the rest of the inquisition, he doesn't even hold a sword and wears a ghetto leather outfit - he does NOT dress like a leader of the holy inquisition. Come on.
I thought about heavily converting him, but turns out he's metal and I'm not a blacksmith so I'm not even gonna touch that one, also I just hate the entire look of him starting with his ENTIRE outfit. So now I am hoping to use substitute another Inquisition Lord (from the DH) that looks much better than this western cowboy asshole from some space western anime (Cowboy beboop or Outlaw Star?)
However, the retinue is different for that character and doesn't typical have the WH crusader in it. Would it still be legal in tournament for me to use the DH Inquisitor Lord with the WH crusader as his retinue?
Originally I thought I could use Inquisitor Lord Karamazov Throne of judgement as the HQ unit to use my WH crusaders but turns out he already has his retinue built into him. Gah.
So is there anyway for me to deploy my Crusaders without using the ugly WH inquisitor lord?
If you are using the WH inquisitor rules (Well, they are the same rules, but the WH lord has a different armoury), then yes. So basically, don't use psycannons or mystics.
And I think you'll find that full length leather coats and the like (Rather than armor) are fairly common amongst the inquisition. Read Eisenhorn, and look at Inquisitor Gideon Lor.

I happen to like the hat =P I use a converted GKT for my Inq and I was tempted to just put a hat made of GS on it modeled after the WH one, but I realzed I can't model. Instead I put a dwarf head on him after much time and effort getting it to fit properly. The power of the =][= with the stubborness of a dwarf all packed into a suit of terminator armor. Don't mess with Roland Lazerbeard o.O
If you don't like the male Inq model, there is the female one you can get in a blister. I personally don't like that one, but hey it's something.
You are allowed to use any model to represent someone or something within reason. So yeah, you could use a DH inquisitor model with WH inquisitor rules. But not a carnifex for an inquisitor for example.
BUT, as already pointed out, you are not allowed to mix the rules of the 2 codices. So no Psycannon wielding inquisitor (from DH codex) and crusader henchmen (WH codex).
Tyranids Win / Draw /Lost
Daemon Hunters Win / Draw / Lost
But yeah, the Inquisitor models are all interchangeable, provided you remember not to WYSIWYG a piece of wargear he's not allowed to have onto him (don't give him a psycannon if you're using him as a WH Inquisitor, for example).
On a side note, the following assaulty =I= load-out is one my mate uses and will give you some idea of why assaulty =I= load-outs are not a good idea, especially not with WH Inquisitors who don't get Terminator armour:
Inquisitor Lord with Rosarius, Digital Weapons, Mastercrafted Force Weapon, Psychic Hood, Inferno Pistol, Frag Grenades, Hammerhand, His Will Be Done, Word Of The Emperor
2x Crusader Henchmen
1x Combat Servitor
3x Acolyte w/ Power Armour & Mancatcher
Land Raider transport, extra armour & smoke.
This set-up gives your Inquisitor Lord WS5, I5, a RRTH force weapon that insta-kills in the same fashion as the Daemonhunters' one, the ability to ignore the first wound he takes in each assault phase and to palm off the first 3 wounds he can't ignore, as well as cutting down the number of attacks coming at the retinue, to potentially prevent any other units charging in to back up their mates, and, to top it all off, a hidden powerfist servitor. On the charge it puts out an S4 attack at I6, 5 mastercrafted force weapon attacks at I5, 6 power weapon attacks and 9 regular attacks at I3, and 2 powerfist attacks at I1, as well as being mounted in a big old Land Raider. This is about as good as it gets for assaulty Witch Hunter Lords, yet not only does the unit weigh in at a GKT-tastic 600+ points but it utterly fails to be impressive against MEQs (all of the attacks are S3, all of the models are T3 and most have atrocious saving throws, and aside from the Lord and the Crusaders they're all WS3 as well) and is likely to be cut down to the Inquisitor Lord and the Crusaders by the time it gets to I3 if you charge it at anything tougher than a Guardian squad.
The Crusader is a cool model, it's just a shame his unit fails so completely at close combat.
